In any event, it is a way bad idea. If you fire a weapon, it should be at a clearly identified target. If that target is human, you should be in fear for your life before using lethal force.

Politics.
Whenever Tilted Politics people post in a Tilted Weaponry thread it means the thread is going south quick. I suggest that the thread is moved elsewhere (Tilted Life) or the OP moves to reshape the discussion so people who have zero experience with weapons are limited to a smaller circle jerk than desired. In my experience, the groupthinks that are Tilted Weaponry and Tilted Politics don't mix well. While this post is partially based around weapon discussion, it went horribly wrong. The mods haven't done anything, so I assume it's still a legit dead horse as far as the Old and Holy TFP Rules, but those bullet points hardly account for good taste. Threadjacks are common, but political threadjacks in gun posts? Enough, motherfuckers, enough. For reasons I can't figure out, Tilted Weaponry seems to get a lot of hits and generates a lot of great discussion. I wanna keep it that way. I'm not a mod or admin or even someone with a lukewarm IQ, but those are my thoughts on the matter. Last edited by Plan9; 12-22-2010 at 11:32 AM.. |

Agreed. Although, an argument can be made that the curtilage surrounding a home is the same as a person's home. Thus, the whole entire, "He was just checking the windows!" and is therefore a 'no shoot' goes out the window. And attempted burglary, burglary, close enough in my book. All in all, I'm glad no one was blown away. |

Plan9 I didnt mean for any of my posts to be political. The reason I thought it belonged here was because I had never had a burglar outside my door (well, since I've been an adult). And tilted weaponry are the guys that know how to use guns safely, within the law, and effectively. Essentially I came here more for a critique of my actions rather than any moral or political view points. I just tend to ramble sometimes and go off topic, so sorry if I started any of the political BS.

Now like I said, I dont think anything in my home is worth killing someone over, but the logic you use here is flawed.

Same logic applied to a slightly different scenario: The kid who mows lawns every summer for 5 years in order to purchase a car would likely place more value on that car than would the kid who is given a car on his 16th birthday. Please point out the flaw in my logic.

Eh. I won't feel comfortable using that as my primary until I can get my hands on a xiphos as a back-up.
