Uninstalling Office XP
Just recently I ran into a problem where when I tried to run Microsoft Outlook, it would come up with a window with this prompt:
The feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable. Click OK to try again, or enter an alternate path to a folder containing the installation package 'PROPLUS.MSI' in the box below. Ok, sounds easy enough, locate that file and I'll be on my merry way. Wrong. I find the file on the CD, and all it gives me is: The file 'D:\PROPLUS.MSI' is not a valid installation package for the product Microsoft Office XP Professional with Frontpage. Try to find the installation package 'PROPLUS.MSI' in a folder from which you can install Microsoft Office XP Professional with Frontpage. I don't even understand what that last paragraph means... The worst problem is that I can't even uninstall office because I get the same error. I've downloaded a couple different copies of proplus.msi but had the same results, and any GIS or Microsoft KB search comes up with answers that don't worke or don't apply. I'm just hoping someone here has had this problem before and might know the solution, I have a copy of 2003 I want to install but I want XP off here first and I just can't seem to get rid of it.

Are you, or have you been on a network or do you have/had a second hard drive? It sounds like it was installed from or onto a network drive. If you can't uninstall it, try just installing it again. If it gives you the option to repair or re-install then reinstall.. if it only gives you the option to repair, than try that route.

Thanks, but I've tried a few different proplus.msi files from different CD's and with no luck >.< Tried to run it off the CD and also copying it to various folders and running from there, but no luck. Just out of curiosity, is that file on your hard drive, and if so, what folder is it in, because when I did my initial search for it, nothing showed up. I just figured that's because It's supposed to be on the CD, but i really don't know

Tres: Yes I am on a network, but Office XP was installed locally while I was not connected, on the local machine account. The only thing installed from the network was Visio which I installed a few weeks later.
Come to think of it, problems started soon after I installed visio.... I'll try installing it like you said and see what happens
