Deals on Web Cams
Well, I am in alogn distance relationship and I thought for Valentines Day I would get myself and my gf web cameras.
Now before you say this belongs in tilted sexuality, I wanted to know the best place to get cheap or good deals on Web cameras. Is there a specific brand I should look for or stay away from. I was just looking for a little buit and was overwhelmed by the selection. I need some help guys! (...and maybe some links too!) |

Logitechs are quite good. Webcams aren't really a hot item, so they're price isn't really going to fluctuate that much, if any.
You might loook at www.fatwallet.com for deals going on. Maybe you can fine 20% off deals or something like that on there.

I agree with fatwallet.
Also, I assume you already have a high speed connection, but if not, I got my webcam when I signed up with Comcast (Bay Area, not sure if this was everywhere). They might still have this deal going, but once you signed up, it was free after you sent in a reply card.

Logitech is a good brand, I have several of their models and they work great. However, there are a few things you should consider before putting out money for a set of webcams.
First of all is the connection type. As hambone said, broadband is the way to go, and I wouldn't even think about putting a web cam on dialup. But location is a key factor as well. Firewalls like they have at a university will stop almost every high quality video link program in it's tracks. Web cam type: Logitech is a good brand, and I love them. But one problem is finding out which type of cam to buy. They offer several different models, and you need to find out which one will do what you need for cheap. Newegg.com carries a "Buddy cam" package, where you get two cams in one box. http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProduc...108-119&depa=0 If you need help finding programs to use let me know. I'm in a LD relationship at the moment as well, and web cams make it a little more bearable. |

My girlfriend got an OEM Logitech Quickcam Pro 4000, for 45 dollars. ( 100 dollars on Logitechs website ). It's a very good, clear, webcam. That was about 9 months ago, and its still working fine. She got it from some website from www.pricewatch.com, so I'd suggest that.
The webcam scorpion suggested, they're not too bad of cameras, but they quality of them are very bad. 2 for 65 bucks or so isn't too bad though. |
