What exactly do you mean by "proxy"? There are a few different concepts that fit under the general category of "proxy", for example I've got a bit of experience setting up reverse HTTP proxies in Apache, but I'm thinking that's not what you are looking for.
So, what are you trying to accomplish? |

If we're talking about anonymous proxies for your browser, I can help.
Instructions for Internet Explorer: Step 1: First goto http://www.whatismyip.com/ Record the results. Step2:Then do a search on Google, for anonymous proxy list, make sure that when you're looking for anonymous versus transparent proxies. Step3: To be on the safe side, always check who owns the address. That's why it's wise to use ARIN, to find out who owns that address. Go here http://ww2.arin.net/whois/, paste in the address and find out who owns that address. Step4: Next goto Tools Menu, scroll down to Internet Options, then click on Connections Tab. Then click on LAN Settings, under Proxy Settings make sure that the check box is selected. Then, copy & paste Ip address & port number info. Step5: Finally, go back to this site http://www.whatismyip.com/ to verify the subsequent changes. For Mozilla: Follow steps 1 - 3 Step4: Go to Tools menu, then General Tab. Step5: Click on Connection Settings. Step6: Select Manual Proxy Configuration Step7: Copy and Paste Address & Port Number Step8: Use http://www.whatismyip.com/ to verify change. However, if there are other alternative also: Proxify - which is a web-based proxy service - http://www.proxify.com/ Software solutions include: Steganos, and GhostSurf. Edit: if you experience timeouts by manually inputing a proxy, here are a couple of tips: 1. Try a IP Address closer to your range, such as if your ip address begins with 62.xx.xx.xxx try finding a proxy that begins with 62. 2. Try using a proxy where you are geographically located. Sometimes they tell you where the proxy is from, either from Germany, Australia, UK, just use address that you are closer to. such as the following site that list, where the proxy is from : http://www.atomintersoft.com/product...xy/proxy-list/ http://www.samair.ru/proxy/socks.htm 3. The proxy must be dead, you just have to try another one. Last edited by zero2; 01-24-2005 at 10:00 AM.. |
