many people have said the software (games) that's a big issue (go M$ for buying Bungie)
The tweaking of the system is a definate bonus, and once you turn off the "gay" as i call it of winXP it's not too bad, granted you gotta go in there and turn off all the services that they decided you needed running to help you with every damn thing you tried to do. I feel somewhat less masculine trying to decide between a mango or fucia (or however you decide to spell that damn color) computer. The big kicker for me, is development. You just don't see ANY software dev companies for Macs.....granted this is big because i'm a programmer and all, but one thing M$ did right was release tools to let you develop for the platform. Oh yeah, and the "My name is XXXXXXXXXXX and I switched to Apple because I'm a pretentious a$$hole" commercials are.......uuurrrgghhh!!!! the english language doesn't have words angry or powerful enough for me to fully convey my feelings on those. |
Every copy of OS X comes with a Developer Tools CD. You get a plethora of cool stuff from GCC to Apple's own Project Builder, all completely free.

I think a lot of people, or myself perhaps, are missing some key points. Some people are complaining that Macs aren't heavily controlled by software, like clock and multiplier controls. Macs are built hardware first, then software within those specifications, pc's are dynamic in both ways, software pushes the specifications on the hardware. I think this might be what causes a lot of the problems in pc's as it is. And doesn't it say something that the company is, at least, telling the end users that the chips come set to perform as well as they can. lol. Instead of, yeah here is your chip, and if you are a geek you can get it to work up to design specifications. *snicker snicker*
Mac's don't have as much support - Of course not, they are extremely stable. Not enough programs - Thats what happens when you have less then double digits in marketshare. Only we can change this. That being said, I use a pc, for now. I have to stick with the mainstream temporarily, but Steve Jobs is still my hero, and one day I will have a mac. Sidenote - Somebody said that IE's updating showed they care about their customers. pfft. In a press release a few weeks ago, they said something to the effect of, they were doing no more updates for that version. In order to get the more secured version you'd have to purchase the highest version of windows or some bullshit like that. I saw it on Bullseye. Anyway, it ended up sounding like, "Well, despite the fact that we delivered shit, keep paying and we promise we'll get it right next time. For now, stick with our shit product." Anyway, I don't hate MS, in fact I love it. But they difinitely help push people away with their antics. Long live open source browsers. Herk |
