Deleting My Pictures and My Music
Is their a way I can permanently delete My Pictures and My Music? I keep deleting them but as soon as I reboot they are back again... its annoying to say the least.
OS = WinXP Professional.

I know this might seem like an odd question, but what are you logged in as? Do you have the proper rights to delete a system folder like My Pictures or My Music? I think that whether or not you have admin/power user rights may have something to do with what you can and cannot delete. If you are the admin for that system, then go into C:\Documents and Settings\All Users and delete the folder from there, then go to Default User and delete it from there as well.

if it was a rights issue, then he would get an access denied message when attempting to delete the folder.
these folders are hard coded into windows, so they will keep coming back even after they are deleted. apparantly microsoft thought that you would REALLY want to have that my music folder, so much so that even after you delete it, it will magically reapperar hehehe.

Along these lines, is there any way to stop the various evil programs which continuously repopulate my 'My Documents' folder? Particularly PowerDVD which keeps creating a 'Cyberlink' folder, and something (I think it's acrobat) making a 'My eBooks' folder. It's a pain in the arse that you can't organise your own folders the way you want with these things!

There are a number of systems folders that you can not delete. At best, you can only hide them from view on the desktop.
It's becoming the trend now, with big SW houses, to add this crap to your system without asking. The average user doesn't seem to mind so it keeps happening. I think that only geeks care about it. I know it bugs the hell out of me ;-)

Same problem here. The longer I think about it the more I get pissed. I mean, I really donīt want a My Music or My Pictures folder. Iīm not a geek, but I still want them to be ++++bEaTz++++ and ___PIX___ just cuz it looks cooler to me.
Damn it, too much free time.
