wierd vb.net issue
Ok,
So i'm writing this app for school. Everything works great except one thing. On one page I have 7 texbox's in a 7x2 table. labels down the left, textbox's down the right. What happens is on load the colors for the background of the textboxs's look proper. but after the page is finished loading the background color's go to a yellowish color. (the same as the text forecolor) If I delete every other label, it shows up properly. I also took the html output and saved it as an html file. Same issue. Removed the form tag and it renders properly, with all 7 labels. to add to this. the browser I'm using is i.e. 6.0 on windows XP. (Same computer as the development box) If I goto another machine running i.e.6.0 on win2k, it renders properly in all situations. any idea's? |

I do know that the swith from desgin mode to html mode can mess up your html code ... (the editor adds stuff by itself sometimes)
are u sure you don't have any css linked to the page etc ? maybe show us some code ?

First the simple...
you have properly set bgcolor and your text color correct? It might also help to set the colors in Code rather then the net toolbox. worth a try? are the lbls and txtBoxes in the same Table? and when you take the lbls off it works fine? have you tried to place them into diffrent tables? |

Yes, the labels and the textboxs are in the same table.
The bgcolor is set properly, tried both in code and setting it directly in the properties. Just tried another thing.. If all the labels have the same text in them.. i..e. label#.text = "label" then they also display properly.. Here is the aspx: <%@ Register TagPrefix="uc1" TagName="Header" Src="Header.ascx" %> <%@ Register TagPrefix="uc1" TagName="Menu" Src="Menu.ascx" %> <%@ Page Language="vb" AutoEventWireup="false" Codebehind="Customers.aspx.vb" Inherits="BlueSky.Customers" EnableSessionState="True"%> <!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.0 Transitional//EN"> <HTML> <HEAD> <meta name=vs_showGrid content="True"> <title>Customers</title> <meta content="Microsoft Visual Studio .NET 7.1" name="GENERATOR"> <meta content="Visual Basic .NET 7.1" name="CODE_LANGUAGE"> <meta content="JavaScript" name="vs_defaultClientScript"> <meta content="http://schemas.microsoft.com/intellisense/ie5" name="vs_targetSchema"> </HEAD> <body text="white" bgColor="Black" LINK="#ffffff" ALINK="#0000ff"> <form id="Form1" method="post" runat="server" > <TABLE id="Table1" cellSpacing="1" cellPadding="1" width="600" align="center" border="1"> <TR> <TD><uc1:header id="Header1" runat="server"></uc1:header></TD> </TR> <TR> <TD><uc1:menu id="Menu1" runat="server"></uc1:menu></TD> </TR> <TR> <TD> <TABLE id="Table3" cellSpacing="1" cellPadding="1" width="300" align="center" border="1"> <TR> <TD> <P><asp:label id="Label8" runat="server">Customer</asp:label></P> </TD> <TD><asp:dropdownlist id="DropDownList1" runat="server" BackColor="Black" ForeColor="#FFFF80" AutoPostBack="True"> <asp:ListItem Value="0" Selected="True">New Customer</asp:ListItem> </asp:dropdownlist></TD> </TR> </TABLE> <TABLE id="Table2" cellSpacing="1" cellPadding="1" width="580" align="center" border="1"> <TR> <TD><asp:label id="Label1" runat="server"></asp:label></TD> <TD> <asp:textbox id="firstTB" runat="server" ForeColor="#FFFF80" BackColor="DarkBlue" Width="300px"></asp:textbox></TD> </TR> <TR> <TD><asp:label id="Label2" runat="server"></asp:label></TD> <TD> <asp:textbox id="LastTB" runat="server" ForeColor="#FFFF80" BackColor="DarkBlue" Width="300px"></asp:textbox></TD> </TR> <TR> <TD><asp:label id="Label3" runat="server"></asp:label></TD> <TD> <asp:textbox id="AddressTB" runat="server" ForeColor="#FFFF80" BackColor="DarkBlue" Width="300px"></asp:textbox></TD> </TR> <TR> <TD><asp:label id="Label4" runat="server"></asp:label></TD> <TD> <asp:textbox id="CityTB" runat="server" ForeColor="#FFFF80" BackColor="DarkBlue" Width="300px"></asp:textbox></TD> </TR> <TR> <TD><asp:label id="Label5" runat="server"></asp:label></TD> <TD> <asp:textbox id="StateTB" runat="server" ForeColor="#FFFF80" BackColor="DarkBlue" Width="300px"></asp:textbox></TD> </TR> <TR> <TD><asp:label id="Label6" runat="server"></asp:label></TD> <TD> <asp:textbox id="ZipTB" runat="server" ForeColor="#FFFF80" BackColor="DarkBlue" Width="300px"></asp:textbox></TD> </TR> <TR> <TD> <asp:label id="Label7" runat="server"></asp:label></TD> <TD> <asp:textbox id="PhoneTB" runat="server" ForeColor="#FFFF80" BackColor="DarkBlue" Width="300px"></asp:textbox></TD> </TR> </TABLE> <TABLE id="Table4" cellSpacing="1" cellPadding="1" width="100%" align="left" border="1"> <TR> <TD><asp:button id="Button1" runat="server" Text="Add Customer"></asp:button></TD> </TR> <TR> <TD><asp:label id="statusMessage" runat="server" ForeColor="Red" Font-Size="Large"></asp:label></TD> </TR> </TABLE> </TD> </TR> </TABLE> </form> </body> </HTML> And the codebehind: Imports BlueSky.connections Public Class Customers Inherits System.Web.UI.Page Private conn As New connections #Region "Declarations" Dim oDR As NpgsqlDataReader Protected WithEvents Label1 As System.Web.UI.WebControls.Label Protected WithEvents Label2 As System.Web.UI.WebControls.Label Protected WithEvents Label3 As System.Web.UI.WebControls.Label Protected WithEvents Label4 As System.Web.UI.WebControls.Label Protected WithEvents Label5 As System.Web.UI.WebControls.Label Protected WithEvents Label6 As System.Web.UI.WebControls.Label Protected WithEvents Label7 As System.Web.UI.WebControls.Label Protected WithEvents Label8 As System.Web.UI.WebControls.Label Protected WithEvents DropDownList1 As System.Web.UI.WebControls.DropDownList Protected WithEvents Button1 As System.Web.UI.WebControls.Button Protected WithEvents statusMessage As System.Web.UI.WebControls.Label Protected WithEvents firstTB As System.Web.UI.WebControls.TextBox Protected WithEvents LastTB As System.Web.UI.WebControls.TextBox Protected WithEvents CityTB As System.Web.UI.WebControls.TextBox Protected WithEvents StateTB As System.Web.UI.WebControls.TextBox Protected WithEvents ZipTB As System.Web.UI.WebControls.TextBox Protected WithEvents PhoneTB As System.Web.UI.WebControls.TextBox Protected WithEvents AddressTB As System.Web.UI.WebControls.TextBox Dim sqlString As String #End Region #Region " Web Form Designer Generated Code " 'This call is required by the Web Form Designer. <System.Diagnostics.DebuggerStepThrough()> Private Sub InitializeComponent() End Sub 'NOTE: The following placeholder declaration is required by the Web Form Designer. Just tried putting the labels in one table, and the textbox's in
another,, and it's workin.. still it looked better (other than the color) with labels on the left, and text box's on the right in one table.. guess i'll just have to play with the width's n such. edit: Spoke too soon.. Now after a couple of refreshes 4 of the 7 look proper. 3 change to a yellow background upon loading. Last edited by NeoSparky; 05-06-2004 at 11:14 AM.. |
