My favorite client has always been Leechftp, it's multi-threaded, provides all the controls I need, and most important of all... IT'S LIGHTWEIGHT... The performance difference is very noticeable especially on a system like mine that is frequently overloaded.

Many siteops don't allow multithreading...
Depends on how you plan on using it/on what kind of sites.

I also use SmartFTP and haven't had any issues with it - of course, just to be nitpicky, the original poster didn't specify what operating system he needed the client for, we all just assumed Win32.

I use FlashFXP to put stuff on my xbox, it was well worth the money. I tried SmartFTP once and decided I liked Flash better, so I bought it. Everybody has their own taste in programs like this, so I suggest you try some demo/free versions of clients suggested here to pick one you really like.

Bulletproof FTP. Another one of the few programs I actually paid for (I just posted in the 'best text editor' thread hehe). IT's lightweight, does what I want.. I was very happy with it (was is because I'm on Linux now and don't use it anymore).

I would vote for SmartFTP, i think it works great.
As for WS_FTP_LE, i dont like it. the main reason is, if you want to delete a folder and its contents it wont let you. you have to delte the contents then go back and delte the folder. where as SmartFTP will delete the files and the folder with one click! |

WHY to use filezilla? Because it's free as in speech not as in beer. This means the source code is availible for all to see... thus, you can be sure that there's no spyware, no viruses, no ads, and less bugs. Why pay for a client when you can use an open source one? I used FlashFXP's trial version, and saw no advantage of it over filezilla.

IMO FlashFXP is simply the best.
