Recomend a -$200 flatscreen! (dual display)

I've decided to try out having two screens instead of one. I've already got a great 21inch Dell high-res monitor and a Radeon gfx card with two outputs and supporting software. Anyone know of a good online retailer who sells decent flatscreens for under $150? I'm sure I could find a generic one on Ebay but I'm looking for the best quality as possible to dampen eye strain.
Also, do you think it would be a problem using a 21 with something like a 19 or even a 17? I'm using it for multiple windows for music production, not for having one large window across two screens.
Thanks guys
-Tim

Using an ATI card to do that will cause 1 big problem - you can't use different resolutions on each monitor without using 3rd party applications. nVidia cards support different resolutions on each monitor though. This would mean that you have to use a resolution that is the lowest common denominator.

You sir, are wrong.

I am using a Radeon 8500, with two 19" Samsung 955DF monitors (CRT).

I just opened up the display properties, selected my right monitor and set it to 800x600. No problems. Selected the left monitor, same thing. No problems. I'm using the latest Catalyst drivers. I've done this with 17" and even 15" monitors. Big monitor running @ 1280x1024, little monitor at a lower res. Even ran 1600x1200 on the 19" and 640x480 on the 15".

I can't speak for the lower end Radeons (7000 and 7500) but I don't think they'd remove the option in better versions (8500 and up).

As far as a monitor suggestion, I'm a big fan of my Samsungs. I do believe you can pick up 955DF's and similar models around the $150 price range. Thats what I paid for my second one a couple years ago. I just wish I could affort LCD's cause these things weigh a damn ton.

Total bullsh!t!

Who ever would have though that an Nvidia fanboy would spread lies about an ATI product?

p.s. 9 out of 10 sexual predators prefer Nvidia products to ATI. It seems that Nvidia videocards help them act out out their perverse fantasies.

So I'm surprised that no one knows of a decent ~$200 flatpanel 'generic' monitor! I can get a 17inch Dell on Ebay right now, which is much more than I need, for around $300. Someone must know of something for less that would be a little better than a total POS!

Right now I'm looking at something like this, but the auction has 3 more days left so who knows what it's going to go for:

My fault - I have been unable to use different resolutions on my 9800 Pro setup - I don't even get the option to set them in different places. If I gave false info on this one I'm sorry. No need to go on the attack though you bastards. (not targeted at yakimushi - you didn't attack me - just showed me where I was wrong) And I love the technology - that's why I have many video cards from mutiple manufacturers.

Wait, you're looking for an LCD monitor, not a flat CRT then?

In that case good luck finding anything for less than $150-200.

AFAIK, 14" go for about $200, 15" roughly $250-300, and 17" and up almost always $300+.

Give em a little more time... LCD's are still the hot new thing.

Thinking about just biting the bullet and buying a more expensive LCD.
Read some decent reviews on this guy:
BenQ FP951 $606 shipped for a 19inch LCD with good stats...
http://techbargains.pricegrabber.com...a037bd294cfaa3

I'd love to spend some more and get a 1901FP Dell but I really am short on cash and $600 is already pushing it.

LCD's aren't worth it in my opinion. I like high resolutions and large screens, so I'm quite happy with my CRTs, thank you very much.

Ah, I love them. Light, little eye strain, I like pretty much everything about them. They are expensive, but here at school I just dont have room for the size that a CRT gives.

But to answer the original question, good luck finding an LCD for that price.
