Ok, now most of you know that you can type http://Login:Pass@Members.Website.com, and if the login and pass are right it lets you in. For some reason, for me, if I put that in, I get a no page, as if I typed in the wrong thing, I have to remove the login

ass@ and type it manually, anyone know what's up?

IE has the same problem for me, but Opera manages the @ in the login just fine.

MS removed support for that protocol because of a security flaw it had in IE. Guess they were too lazy to actually fix that one

This really bugged me when it stopped working after the recent Windows Update.
Although it's disabled, you can re-enable it by making an entry in your registry.
Details are available at the bottom of this article.
It's pretty easy to do, and works now

I thought it was because Microsoft disabled the ability to do this. I know its somewhere on the forum.

I'm using Windows 2000 Pro and IE 6 SP 1, and I can't find the value in the registry. After "Main", there is no "FeatureControl". I tried using the search feature too.

There's a file on that page (see my post above) you can download which will create the "FeatureControl" folder and the included DWORDS :

"iexplore.exe"=dword:00000000
"explorer.exe"=dword:00000000

It's a text file when you download it, so what you need to do is save it as a ".reg" file and then execute it. The filename is "ie_enablepassinurl.reg.txt"

Changes won't take happen until you reboot
