Sites with logins.. (Porn etc..)
Ok, now most of you know that you can type http://Login:Pass@Members.Website.com, and if the login and pass are right it lets you in. For some reason, for me, if I put that in, I get a no page, as if I typed in the wrong thing, I have to remove the login:pass@ and type it manually, anyone know what's up?

which browser?
IE has the same problem for me, but Opera manages the @ in the login just fine. :) |
MS removed support for that protocol because of a security flaw it had in IE. Guess they were too lazy to actually fix that one

Say waaa? MS just removing somthing and not fixing it? No.... (Windows ME) hehe |
This really bugged me when it stopped working after the recent Windows Update.
Although it's disabled, you can re-enable it by making an entry in your registry. Details are available at the bottom of this article. It's pretty easy to do, and works now :) |

I thought it was because Microsoft disabled the ability to do this. I know its somewhere on the forum.

Got it fixed. Here's what the deal is and how to fix it if anyone is interested:

Nice! Thanks messy :)

I'm using Windows 2000 Pro and IE 6 SP 1, and I can't find the value in the registry. After "Main", there is no "FeatureControl". I tried using the search feature too.

"iexplore.exe"=dword:00000000 "explorer.exe"=dword:00000000 It's a text file when you download it, so what you need to do is save it as a ".reg" file and then execute it. The filename is "ie_enablepassinurl.reg.txt" Changes won't take happen until you reboot |
Thanks, it worked, and I didn't even have to reboot.
