[php] looking for simple php scripts that create tables of thumbnails.
Can anyone recomend a good php script that creates a table of thumbnails with user defined spacing?
I'm looking for one that i can use via the include function into another page. It will be included in the left side of a 2 cell table and when a thumb is clicked the full picture load in the right hand cell. Seems simple right? I've been googling this and can't seem to find much that doesn't require image majik even though i don't need to create the thumbs. (though come to think of it it would be neat if the script would order them by creation date with newest at the top of the table) Any suggestions?

Do you want to create the thumbnails as well, or just the tables and image tags?

Just the table and image tags.
side note: I'm using a java widget on the image tag source to effect their opacity (see www.arch13.com) and need to be able to tell the script to add that into the image source tag. Seems so easy but i've had great difficulty finding it without a great deal of other features. I just need it to pull the thumbs from the /images/thumbs directory and order them by date, each thumb linking to it's same named full size counterpart which will load in the right table div when the thumb is clicked. Much better if it can also add a line of code into the image tags as mentioned above.

I was just going through the same dilemma. Every thing required ImageMagick... then I finally found this yesterday:
http://www.planet-source-code.com/vb...=1192&lngWId=8 It also generates the thumbnail images if they don't already exist... you might have to change a few things for it to work exactly right for you, but hopefully it's a start. If you wanna see a quick example of how it looks as-is, check out http://www.moskie.net/pics/Berlin/

You could make it yourself in PHP?
It would be hard to do on a Windows machine (I think, don't have any experiance with it), but on a *nix box it shouldn't be that much code to get the filenames of a directory. I would have no idea how to get the lastModified attribute of a file though, but I'm sure there's documentation on it somewhere. However, this doesn't help you at all if you don't know PHP a bit already. You might want to check out Arles Image Web Creator though, I used it a lot before and it might suit your needs.

Cheerios and Halx,
I'm going to take you guys up on that offer. I looked at the script moskie recomends and i'm having trouble seeing where i can remove the resize commands and still have it work since it makes calls to things like GD. I tried to delete some of the code and run it to create a table and got a parse error ![]() Is this really easy for you guys? I feel like a bum for asking.

Even with a windows OS its not very hard to get it to look in a directory that you set. I have a piece of code that I use for my digital camera pictures that just needs the pictures in named folders and it will link to all of them
