that's the weird part, i dont have any properties.

all i see are the default 5 or 6 tabs.

(general, adapter, monitor, and that row)

i used to have all the other tabs but now this is all i got.

i better re-install the stuff.

ok, i re-installed the whole thing and now i have the additional tabs.

where can i turn off vertical sync?

i'm using an ati radeon 7000 w/ catalyst 3.0 driver

i turned the 'wait for vsync option' to always off.

When's the last time you defragged and scanned for trojans, viruses and spyware? How much free space do you have? Are there any exclamation points in the Device Manager?

yes, i have the latest drivers from windows update.

i just installed the new ati drivers (i dont think the condition improved much)

there are no spyware, no virus' etc...

i got a gig+ of free space.

and nothing exclamated in device manager.

the pc came w/ an onboard card (which could NOT be disabled in bios), so i had to disable it in the device manager.

Don't get the drivers from Windows Update. Get the drivers from the people that make what you are using. Go to their webpage, go to support, then go to drivers. That way, you know if they are recent, and the most current one's availible.

Ok, AMD's K6-2 CPU’s aren’t the best CPU for gamming. The K6-2 had a lot of problems, the Athlon chips that came out after the K6-2 where 100% better. 192 mb of ram is fine for Window 95/98/ME, but if your running Windows 2000/XP its not enough I would recommend at least 256 mb of ram of 2000/XP. The Redeon 7000 isn’t a very fast video card, you could update the Redeon 7000 card to a GeForce 4 MX or a Redeon 9000 card for 50$ to 100$. Both card come in PCI form factor. You could try to overclocking your Redeon 7000 that would give you a few more FPS, Guru3d has a lot of programs for overclocking.

Just drop the CS ressolution. That's what I did, it takes getting used to, but I get a decent framerate now. Minimum resolution, K6-2 450mHz 392 of ram, TNT2 32mb vid card, and loads of free space, and the only hting that helps is to drop the res.
