Question about Kazaa
I looked around and didn't see this posted here, so here goes...
When I download from Kazaa, I have noticed that a LOT more songs are corrupt now than there used to be. Also, there are a bunch of songs that are just 3-4 sec loops of the chorus for 3-4 minutes. When I was trying to d/l the new Korn song, I downloaded 5-6 different files and all of them were the loop. Also, when I was looking for a couple of popular songs, they all were corrupted somewhere through the song. My questions are these.... 1) Who is putting the looped songs out there? Is it the RIAA or the music label? Someone else? 2) On the same song, it showed that there were 500+ sources for one of the Korn songs. It turned out to be a looped version. Do people d/l songsand not listen to them? When I d/l music, I check it and delete it if it is no good. Just wondering.... |

I would answer if I could but I never use it to download popular songs, the last quasi -popular song I downloaded was Billy Talent, other then that, I don't think I've ever gotten anything like that. Messed up songs for sure, ones that don't work, or that are mis-titled, but not looped. Course I have KaZaa lite as well.

The latest KaZaA Like K++ (2.4.3) includes the IP Blocker & IP Blocker Updater. This is basically a list of banned IPs/IP ranges from the p2p network.
Besides government/music/movie industry IP ranges it contains numerous IPs which were sharing loads of fake files. (Of course it doesn't help you against people who already downloaded the fake and keep sharing it, but at least it's something...) |

emule has a rating system where any user can flag the content as good or bad, and I haven't gotten any fake content on it yet.
it can be slow...but it also encourages sharing and is great for obscure content! maybe try considering it as an alternative. and to answer your questions: 1) It's the RIAA, labels, and companies they hire to do it. Since it's intentional they try to do the best job they can to spread crap 2) People are just lame when it comes to that. In combination with #1, people just don't care or don't know how to delete the junk files (believe it or not) Last edited by Fearless_Hyena; 11-10-2003 at 05:17 PM.. |

I just downloaded the new version of Kazaa Lite, the one mentioned above, but now I can't get the new version to save in the Kazaa "My Shared Folder." It will only save to things to the My Documents folder and it is cluttered enough as it is. Does anyone know how I can get the new version to save where I want to, in the Kazaa Shared Folder? Thanks
