ZipZoomFly.com

Sad, sad, retardedly stupid day:

Googlegear.com had officially changed it's name to ZipZoomFly.com because they are complete nincumpoops.

Who else is completely disappointed and nauseated by this very bad marketing decision?

Here's the "reason"

Dear Googlegear Shoppers,

When we were founded in 1998, it was with the focus of offering a seemingly endless selection of assorted products. We've recently decided to change our name because it no longer represents our very concentrated focus: performance computer upgrades with no frills.

"ZipZoomFly" is a tribute to the speed at which computer technology evolves, as well as our commitment to Zip, Zoom, and Fly along with the speed of technology so that we'll always be bringing you the latest parts and accessories for your computer system!

If you haven't shopped with us lately, we invite you to come by and see us again. We're a CNET and Dealtime-certified, ResellerRatings Elite and Bizrate Gold store, as well as Intel Corporation's "Etailer of the Year." Come find out why!

I always wondered if they would run into trouble with Google over trademark.

Maybe there is really another reason for the change.

Before:

"Dude, where'd you get that mobo?"
"Uh, I got it at Googlegear."

Now:

"Dude, where'd you get that mobo?"
"Uh, I got it at ZipZoomFly."

Just doesn't have the same ring to it.

I'll still shop from them, but it sounded much cooler to say I was ordering from Googlegear than from Zipzoomfly.

I mean it just sounds like one of those failed dot coms.

I used to work in Koreatown (in LA). I'll never forget the name of a computer store that had closed down. It was called:

ShineVery Computers

I'm not sure which is worse - ZipZoomFly or ShineVery.

I think everyone here needs to send them an email letting them know how rediculous their new name is.

Sounds like a crazy Japanese name for a special move in an arcade game.

Seriously...say it really fast and make it high pitched at the end.....

ZipZoomFLYYYYEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!

Anyways, that's got to be one of the stupidest names I've ever heard.

Same here. Then I sent Newegg an email and told them they're going to be getting all my future business. They seemed pleased by that.
