F^&*king Real Player

Personally, I hate RealPlayer. I just wanted to get that out of the way. I am running XP and when I click on my DVD-Rom drive in My Computer it always starts playing my CD with RealPlayer. I hate that. I tried to change the file association but to no avail. Is there another way to change this? Much obliged. Thanks.

Options (not a sequence. Don't do all three in a row, because this is not step-by-step instructions. These are just ways to possibly aleviate the problem you are having ):

1) Go into Real Player, options or settings, and look for something with "file associations" or "Associate with ___ files" options. De-select pretty much everything. Especially "Associate with CD's" or anything that sounds simialer to that

2) Uninstall RealPlayer. Start > Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs, and uninstall realplayer.

3) Try to "Force" a different media player to play cd's by (first doing option 1) and then opening up the other media player and associating everything with that one. Like Windows Media Player.

Heh, just went into RP to see what settings you'd need to change and I found that I've somehow managed to completely avoid using RP since I bought my computer 2 months ago.

Anyways, looks like meanSpleen took care of you in the meantime.

Quicktime>Windows Media Player> Real Player

I wish they would get rid of Real, and even WMV.

Man, I think I'm the only person left alive who still likes and uses real player regularly.

I enjoy my cartoons in real format. File size stays nice and small. Who needs a 30 minute cartoon to be 300mb anyway? I don't have that kind of hard drive space anymore. (Perhaps I should delete most of my mp3s. I don't listen to that many of them anyway.)

Eh.. RP is shit even under Linux. Though if you grab the RP libraries mplayer can play it's files.. I, too, am surprised RP is still in use today, because it sucks soo horridly
