i just reformatted because of the damn blaster virus. it was so bad i couldnt download the right drivers cause none of my drives were working...

now that ive got everything up and running, my sound card doesnt work. i have a soundblaster live card, ive downloaded all the drivers, the system reads my card, but it says no sound devices are installed.

i might be overlooking something totally obvious. any help would be appreciated.

Sounds like a driver problem, are you sure you've downloaded the correct drivers from Creative? Does the device show up in Device Manager?

Try taking the sound card out of your system, then reload the drivers, reboot and install card back into system in a different pci slot.

Try forcing your BIOS to update ESCD, works sometimes. Also make sure there are no IRQ/DMA conflicts on it..
