What are ECNs?
I was browsing the AMD website when I was looking up the motherboard I just bought for the AMD processor I just bought as well. Under Motherboard Notes, I noticed that it said "ECN-360164 is required". What the hell does that mean? I tried doing a search on them and nothing came up. Anyone know what it means?
F.Y.I. - I just purchased (I have not received yet) a Gigabyte GA-7N400-L motherboard, AMD 2500+ Barton CPU, 512mb of Crucial PC3200 ram, and a MSI FX5600 video card. I am upgrading from a Pentium 600 rambus system. I can't wait!!! Here is the link for that AMD site:http://www2.amd.com/us-en/recmobo/De...?queryID=73980 - Scroll to the bottom to see the ECN message. Thanks.

ECN is an Engineering Change Notice, ie it details a hardware "fix" to
cure a particular problem, or potential problem, or just to improve performance, reduce cost, replace obsolescent component, whatever. These are created by the designer of the hardware. Most likely if the processor is under the "Recommended Speeds" list (your 2500+ is) you shouldn't have a problem. |
