Firefox window size keeps resetting
Ok so a couple nights ago, it was so fucking hot that my computer just hard booted itself. Firefox hasn't been the same since.
Every new window I open up comes in the same odd, inconvenient size. It's like 700x1100... really dumb. I can resize it, close it, and open a new one and its still the same size. I've reinstalled firefox to no avail. How do I fix this? Windows XP sp2 Firefox 1.5.0.5

In a new tab, type in "about:config" in the URL box. Then in the filter box, type in "size". One of the first entries should be for "dom.disable_window_move_resize". If it is set to "true", try setting it to "false". Just double-clicking it will change the value.

I had a problem with firefox a few weeks ago, plugged my cell phone in, it was added as a modem, and firefox got hosed, could not connect to anything, I removed the cell phone, no fix, removed firefox, no fix. firefox has the worst uninstall of any program i have EVER seen. i had to reinstall windows, after 2 days of trying to fix the problem.

resize to the size you want.
click maximise (button beside "X", situated between "X" and "minimize") the "small" (restore down) size should remain when you restart firefox.

Have you tried a new profile? If you had a brutal shutdown, it's possible that the profile has been trashed. Check out Firefox Help: How To Manage Profiles.

i tried the profile fix, but it didn't work. the thing is that I use double monitors on my computer with windows xp. it has worked until now, but suddenly firefox (which I always have on the secondary screen) adjusts to the max monitor size of the primary screen. so if the two monitors have the same resolutions, all is fine, but as soon as the primary screen gets a lower resolution (because it is a lap top with a worse screen), firefox running on the secondary screen adjusts to the smaller max screen size. any thoughts?
