vBulletin 3.5?

You're still running 3.0.3
The transition to 3.5 is fairly seamless, takes about 30 minutes to an hour or so.
There's a fair few new features, including a very snazzy AJAX quick reply option.
If you need help, I'm more than happy to lend a hand, having done it myself.

Any admin feedback?

Hal's usually pretty good about keeping the versions up to date. He's been pretty busy lately, so I don't know when he'll have a chance to update, but I'm sure he will once he has the opportunity.

Ditto this. Especially the AJAX reply functionality--it could potentially save a good bit of bandwidth on the site, and given the financial troubles we're always in, that's a good thing

Asynchronous Javascript And XML. It's a way of doing things with webpages, mainly submitting and receiving data, without refreshing the page. Think about GMail. The functionality I'm referring to allows you to use the quick reply box and submit, and it automatically posts the post without having to refresh the page. This saves the site bandwidth as it isn't having to resend everything on the page, just the little bit that changes.

Basically, it makes the web more like a real application. It's pretty cool technology.

Thank you sailor. That does seem to sound like quite a nifty feature for larger boards with a lot of posts. I've seen posts with several high resolution photographs that attempted to kill my machine loading the first time and I been hesitant to reply because I didn't want to endure that a second. I assume AJAX would eliminate that.

Sure thing. AJAX would get rid of most of that. In that case, the images probably wouldn't have been reloaded because most browsers cache them for that reason, but yes, in any case, AJAX would have prevented that.

Just a little bump, because I was searching to see if the Journal software had been updated, and I found that there's a vB Journal 1.5 Beta 3 - Page 3 - vBulletin.org Forum that needs vBulletin 3.5 (there's also a 1.01 that works with our version). The Joural code seems rather buggy, it takes forever to pull up "all journal entries by this user", and I'm afraid that I'm strangling the server when I try to use that option.

AJAX is magnificent. I run VB 3.5.4 on a site, and it makes things run so much smoother. The vb guys did a magnificent job of integrating it. It's so damn good.

Hightly recommend it, it's win win - lower bandwidth usage (on big sites such as TFP and for big threads) and easier to browse - you can go back after using quick reply and it will take you to the forum index/whatever you clicked to get there.
