PG TFP
Could we get a switch in the options to set our viewing prefs to 'PG Mode' or something? By this, I mean:
1) Get rid of the nudie bits, like the TB if it ever gets restored. It's a temptation I'd rather not have. 2) Make people check a box, indicating if their avatar is not safe for work. I like to have avatars on, as it makes it easier to find my posts and notice when other particular people have posted to a thread, as well as adding a bit of personality to the posts, but I'd rather not have Jazia's tits (to name the most famous, but not the only, example) staring back at me when I'm reading a thread on philosophy or current affairs or music. It'd also be a bitch if I were browsing from work.

Problem:
People would have to label or tag their avatars as "not safe for work". And I'm pretty sure that most people are too lazy to check that off if they were given a choice. If they did label their avatars as nsfw, then it would be able to be implemented

meanspleen, I think by the time people have avatars, they're aware enough of their fellow users to check a box saying it's NSFW. And it wouldn't be hard for moderators to check the one or two who didn't.

No they wouldn't. If they aren't too lazy, then they will either:
a) Have a nsfw avatar and purposely not check the box, thereby making all the people who don't want to see them see it. -or- b) Have a sfw avatar and check the box off, because they thought it was for something else or they just checked it off. ==== It is just not a simple thing for people to tag their own stuff. Its natural for things to slip by, or be done for other reasons.

I thought about this before, but never said anything. It doesn't really bother me, but I can see where people that wanted to surf in a PG atmosphere would not be able to. I changed my Avatar for this reason. While mine is not me, at least it's not R rated.
Maybe we should have a rule that the Avatar can only be used if it is a pic of the person that owns it? Well maybe not, I wouldn't like that much. Hard one to come up with an answer that works for all. Maybe a no nude rule above the change avatar button.

why not just kill images while in a NSFW time table?
I'd not mind click a NSFW box if i needed to but spleen is right. people are l a z y. i think if your concern is imagry of an adult nature it is best for the people if you simply click images off. If it is easy for people to click, then it can’t be hard for you, eh? Ps I’m no mod |

I think disabling avatars is enough. I mean - if you want to take this to the limit, if you're viewing the TFP from a place where you could "get caught," don't you realize that every single page says "Tilted Forum Project" in big letters at the top?
Any boss could do a Google search and fire your ass (this is for the benefit of the truly paranoid) Hey - at least TFP doesn't have those annoying Bulls-Eye and SbB ads like <i>Fark</i>!!!
