Miami Dolphins?

I have been a die hard dolphin since i can remember, but this years season really sucks and ill be glad when its over. I was just have a few questions,
Is it all ricky's fault? I put most the blame on him
Is it feidler and feeley's?
Are u happy weinstadt(spelling) quit?
will next year be different?

just wanted to hear some opinions?

There's plenty of blame to go around down in Miami. I blame Wannie more than I blame Ricky. Most of the offense was built around one man. Even though Ricky quit, Miami should have better prepared itself because of the amount of touches he gets during a season. They should have had someone ready in case he was injured. Then, there was all of the infighting when Norv Turner left. Add Wannie's annual quarterback carousel due to his indecision and lack of foresight, and this was bound to happen. On the plus side, he's gone now, and the only place the Dolphins have to go is up.

Although I'm not a Dolphins fan, my opinion would be that Ricky should get the lion's share of the blame.

Not just from him not being there, but the timing of his retirement, and the distraction of the talking and the lawsuits and all of that, combined to sabatage the team.

Wannstadt gets blame too, but only because he wasn't a good enough coach to overcome the issues with the offense.

The GM gets more blame then Wannstadt does for not having a backup plan for Williams and for making that stupid deal for Feely (ought to be fired for that).

Finally, the players get their share for their poor play bringing about all of these problems.

I blame Ricky, because he kicked the team in the nuts, even harder so, due to his timing.

He WAS the Dolphins, and he just got up and left at a time that finding an acceptable replacement wasn't an option.

The Dolphins haven't had a quality QB since Marino, but they did have a great running back.. Until he walked away.

So yea, I blame Ricky.

People that are on my shit list...

1) Ricky because he left the team high and dry. I wasn't expecting much from the Phins this year but to see them just bottom out so completely can only point to one major thing and that's Ricky shafting the team immediately before training camp. Something like that would shake ANY team and a subpar team like the Phins got shaken to their core and obviously aren't going to be able to recover quickly if at all from something like that. Had he quit in February things would have been hard but it would have been possible to mitigate SOME of the damage.

2) Wanstedt. The guy is a moron. I cringed when I learned he was taking over for Jimmy and I cringed all the way until this week when he quit. He gets out coached in every big game. He can't prep a team for the long haul, and he doesn't manage personel well enough to deal with glaring holes on the team at the skill positions and the Offensive line. In short he's subpar at best.

3) The QB corps. Everybody knew it would be hard for Miami to replace a veritable icon like Marino. It's like that in every town that has a superb QB it takes a while to find somebody to replace him. San Fran hasn't really found a GREAT QB since Young who luckily took over for Montana. Garcia is ok at best. I see Dallas suffer every year from the lack of a QB since Troy left. And when Farve hangs it up in Green Bay they will suck ass for a bit as well. But it's been long enough that Miami SHOULD have found something to pin their hopes on. As it stands we have likely another 3-4 years before we get a QB worthy of holding Marino's jock strap much less be on par with him.

I just hope they figure something out before they get caught in that spiral of mediocrity that so many teams get stuck in for decades at a time.

The sad thing is one of the best defensive units ever to play the game has been in Miami for the last 3-4 years and they won't get one bit of recognition because the offense has been so shitty for so long. I can only hope the Defense is able to stay at the high level it's at long enough that the offense can be rebuilt so we can contend again.

hmm I think you people are putting a bit much blame on Ricky. Sure his retirement was untimely but you know what that's the staffs fault for not having anyone besides him to run the football. David Boston got hurt, Dan Marino left their VP spot in a mess. Wanny did an alright job with that team, he's a good coach he just didn't have the people he needed and he got thrown into a bad situation this season. with that defense all they needed was an offense that could put up about 17 pts a game and keep the ball for a decent amount of time. don't blame ricky, he's only one guy. one guy doesn't make the team.

Easy case here. Wannie worked his magic with the Dolphins just as he did in Chicago for 5 years. God, I really have an endless supply of hatred for the man. I think most Bears fans will back me up on this one.

Ricky Williams totally screwed the phins over. Quitting right before the season started knowing that he was the offense and that he was being a selfish PoS. What type of guy would leave his teammates, who were probably close friends, high and dry.

I think that Ricky had a huge impact on the Dolphins this year. He had the choice to play football or smoke, and he decided he'd rather smoke. Very immature and selfish decision on his part to retire. I wouldn't want him on my team
I think Wanstedt is a nice guy, but I don't think he is a coach. He's like Ron Zook, a players coach. One that all the players like, but don't respect. So, I think some of the blame has to rest on him and the rest of his staff.
I also think the hurricanes at the beginning of the season hurt the Dolphins from the start. I think there was a lot of uncertainty in the team schedule, and it may have gotten the team off on the wrong foot.
Sad to say, but I don't much light at the end of the tunnel, at least for the near future. Hopefully the Dolphins bring in a quality coach.

I too am a lifelong diehard Fins fan (started with Dan Marino in the 80's) but I don't think this season is all Ricky's fault. This team has had a number of issues the last couple of years that have been masked by a very good defense and a good running game. Wannstedt was a cancer! I was happy when he was no longer allowed to make the personel decisions, but I am even happier now that he is not coaching!

I don't think it is Jay or AJ's fault either. Let it be said that I think Feeley should be the starter so that we know if he has a future. We need to use the rest of this season to evaluate what we have and begin to mark the direction this team will be heading in the next few years. It's a given that our O-Line is horrible but where else do we need to improve? Is it at QB? RB? Linebacker? DE? Special Teams?

Also, I'm not convinced Speilman is the answer either. I think with a decent O-Line Lamar Gordon, Morris, and Minor or good enough to win at running back next year. But our defense is getting old. And too much of our salary cap money is wrapped up in the D. BTW, this is a Defense that has basically given up this season.

I think our biggest problem is ownership, but it's not something that is really fixable.
