Raptors cheerleader fired for website *NSFW*
...I think you can guess what kind. I'm not sure if they should have fired her, the Raptors need all the help they can get.
NBA Cheerleader Bounced For Softcore Site >> Charles Farrar March 16, 2004 TORONTO - A cheerleader for the Toronto Raptors of the National Basketball Association has been fired over her softcore Website. Lindsey Marshal's site included a few banners posted not by her, but by affiliates, looking to milk a little extra out of her connection to the Raptors, according to Tony Edwards, who represents site owner AvenueBlue. "[She] was told by the Raptors she was fired, or her services were no longer required, simply because she had this Website, and some banners depicted her as a Raptors dancer," Edwards told AVNOnline.com, emphasizing that at no time did Marshal herself affix such banners or approve of any affiliate who did. Marshal herself is declining comment on the matter for the time being. Edwards said she went out of her way to keep her Website completely distinct from her work with the Raptors, using the site to help pay for her college education and to further her dancing career. "I don't know when the team found out about it specifically," he said. "She was fired in the last couple of days." A spokesperson for the Raptors was unavailable for comment as this story went to press. While Marshal remains in the official Dance Pak photo on the Raptor’s site, her name is not mentioned and the hyperlink to her bio has been removed. Marshal's site is a predominantly softcore site, featuring still and video images, and offering a few of her self-made video and DVD products. "It's like a college girl site," Edwards said. "She's a starving student trying to make a few extra dollars by trying to have this site. She's trying to advance her dance career. Unfortunately, due to the Raptors' decision, this is having a negative effect on her personally. She's using the site and her modeling just as an aside to pay her rent and advance her career." Here's her website: http://www.lindseymarshal.ca/ . [Before you scroll down, let me assure you this is NSFW though it does not say so in the title.]

We should hire her as an official TFP cheerleader

They sure do make them pretty in Canada...
That out of the way, I can understand why they fired her, I just don't agree with it.

As long as she wears clothes at the games, nudity on website shouldn't be a problem. If people visit her site, they do it to see her naked. I don't see how that affects her performance as a cheerleader. Why should a basketball team that promotes sex appeal by featuring scantily clad cheerleaders care what she does on her own time. I can understand them nixing the banners, but firing her. Gimme a break.

They are pretty tasteful photos though..
As far as I know cheerleaders don't earn much from the games and I'm not surprised that she resorted to posing naked on a website. It woulldn't even surprise me if some cheerleaders work as strippers (or is that an urban sports legend ?). Anyone else think its none of the team's business what its cheerleaders do to supplement their income ? I mean as long as they show up to the games and perform upto standard, why would they have a problem with it exactly ? The team has no problem with its cheerleaders wearing revealing outfits and performing "suggestively", yet if they take it one step further (on a personal website might I add, not like she did Playboy or anything), suddenly they've gone too far

OK, I'll admit it: I started this thread just to show off pics of this hottie (I don't think anyone is complaining ;D ) . Anyhoo, if I were management I would keep her on the squad as long as the fans didn't know of her website. Despite all the cussing and bad sportsmanship at games, the NBA likes to bill itself as 'family entertainment' with such promotions as family fun night. I know it sounds stupid but if it was widely known that Lindsey had her own softcore site, management WOULD have received complaints about it. In this era of post-Janet hypersensitivity, Raptors management had little recourse but to fire her if her website became public knowledge (although I'm not sure how many Raptors fans knew of the site before the event). Just my $0.02.

Although this is a thing that happened in Canada, the same thing is happening all over in the US. Cops and firemen in the Phx area have been fired because they operated amatuer porn sites with their wives. I'm sick of employers being able to dictate what LEGAL activities people are allowed to engage in outside of work.
We need to stand up to the powers that be in our country and tell them that what we do outside of work is our fucking business, especially if it is a totally legal activity. |

similar situtaion here in ohio, a news reporter was involved in a set t-shirt contest while on vacation in the bahamas or something like that, well the contest got a bit raucus and it was more than just wet T action.
somehow or another photos from the event made their way back to the home offices and she was canned for her actions while on vacation. enough is enough how long will we have to deal with big brother and worrying about doing stuff on our own free time.

I think it's hypocritical for them to have fired her. Okay, we can show you off in skimpy outfits, but you're naked on a website that you own? No, we can't have that! Give me a frickin' break!

I wonder how much money these cheerleaders make, and how much she was making on her website...i mean who clicks on all those banner ads anyway? Cheesy of the league to flaunt her physical attributes each week on national TV, then to fire her for her doing it on her own...i didnt see anything on her site that referenced the NBA either...certainly they could have warned her eh? or given her a smack on the arse or something...

It was my understanding that these cheerleaders have full-time jobs outside of the sports league and do the Cheerleading for some low base pay. When you are not at work, it shouldn't be any employer's business what you do as long as it doesn't affect the job you do.
And she is really cute! I love her eyes. I remember when a Nurse at a hospital got fired when pics of her website (Personal adult site of her and her husband) started getting circulated at her job. She took it to court but I never found out how it turned out. |

Total b.s. - had they never publicized it, there would've been very little fanfare. Sure, have her (or whomever) remove the banners, but that's it.
With the amount of illegal crap that is so prevalent around the league, you'd think they wouldn't worry so much about the legal stuff. Unless this stuff was written into her contract or something......?? (no mention of it) |

I have friends who know a couple of the Washington Redskins cheerleaders -- they make about $150.00 a game. So for all the hours of practice they have to put in and appearances that they attend they make around $1200.00 for the season. Not that much money if you think about it when considering the extensive effort put forth. IMO 9 out of 10 of them only do it as a way to get exposure and further the career path they've chosen.
