News Flash" Torre manages Yanks to Loss"
Maybe he should have let Clemens manage the game again.
Anyone but me think it was shamefull of the Yanks to show such disrespect to another team, by letting the players manage the last game of the season? Sure it was only the Orioles in a meaningless game to the Yanks, but it sure irritated thr hell out of me. What a bunch of lamos. I hope the Twins clean their clocks.

I dont have a problem since it was Roger supposed last regular season game. he is retiring after this season and I am betting he is not the managing type.
Since it was a meaningless game it should not hurt. It would have been disrespectful had they done it during a meaningful game since it means they dont respect you enough. Art |

Supposedly they do this every year. Or at least often. I have no problems with it. Of course, if the O's had sent out BJ Surhoff as manager and Pat Hentgan as pitching coach, it would've been better.

I pray that the Yankees lose out to the Twins. It would be a great slap in the face to Selig's desire to get rid of the Twins a couple years back. And, more importantly, Steinbrenner can get his exceedingly large panties in a bunch and fire everyone. I feel bad for Torre and Zimmer; baseball greats that get shit on at every turn. Why do they put with Steinbrenner's bullshit?

The twins winning really isnt the issue. Its all about whethever Minn can support a major league team. At times the answer is no. The best thing for baseball would be to get rid of teams like Pitts, Tampa, Montreal and maybe Minn. The players association would never stand for it, but just think how much better the game would be. You wouldnt have double A guys as your 4th and 5th starters. |

Wow, a team with home field advantage wants to have a little fun, the horrors!
You think the players care? It's the last game of the season, if they're the Orioles they could care less who the opposing manager is. There is one story in Ball Four of a guy who had a flight he wanted to catch on the last day of the season. Only problem, it left in the middle of the game, so he talked to the umpire. First pitch was a called strike, the guy says "What kind of call is that?" the Ump goes "that's enough, you're out of here" the guy replies "Thanks" and leaves. Yea, I'm sure the Orioles were extremely insulted.

One day an Englishman, a Scotsman, and an Irishman walked into a pub together. They each bought a pint of Guinness. Just as they were about to enjoy their creamy beverage, three flies landed in each of their pints. The Englishman pushed his beer away in disgust. The Scotsman fished the fly out of his beer and continued drinking it, as if nothing had happened. The Irishman, too, picked the fly out of his drink but then held it out over the beer and yelled "SPIT IT OUT, SPIT IT OUT, YOU BASTARD!" |

I think it would be a much better game if it wasn't the classic "rich kids camp" v "rag-tag poor kids camp". A-rod's contract is worth more than the twins, how messed up is that? Maybe if the rangers just bought the twins and changed their name to the rangers they'd actually be in the playoffs. |
