Kobe arrested
Kobe Bryant has been arrested for sexual assault in Colorado. Link here: doesn't open in new window.
Obviously, it is too early to make assumptions of guilt. If there is anything to the charges, Kobe's image as an NBA choir boy is shatttered. I hate the Lakers but have always admired Kobe as being a class guy. |

He's in deep shit with his wife if this is true.
Usually when DA investigates and then presses charges there's a pretty good chance you did something wrong.

NBA players have the reputations for screwing their brains out. All the time. With different women in different cities.
It seems they have some "evidence" against him. Enough to make a charge against him. So, without knowing the facts, allow me to speculate: Kobe banged some bitch in Colorado who got stars in her eyes. In the morning, she got dollar signs and took herself and the physical evidence and cried sexual assualt. Would NOT be the first, second or hundredth time this happened to an athlete. Predictions: Kobe gets off after admitting to having sex with her. His wife becomes a millionairre in the divorce procedings. Kobe gains the "street cred" he is supposedly lacking. Nike makes a fortune. |

Should be interesting once all the facts come out. Kobe has one of the best reputations in the NBA. Not to say that the NBA as a whole has a great reputation. It seems more often than not you are reading about one of these guys involved in some sexual episode.

I'm sticking behind Kobe. Mitch Kupchak described him very well. He's just a great human being. This whole accusation is heart-wrenching.

Everyone's saying he's guilty, while in the meantime he's been cooperating fully. It can be completely possible that she is lying her ass off to try to get money.

Just as they were about to enjoy their creamy beverage, three flies landed in each of their pints. The Englishman pushed his beer away in disgust. The Scotsman fished the fly out of his beer and continued drinking it, as if nothing had happened. The Irishman, too, picked the fly out of his drink but then held it out over the beer and yelled "SPIT IT OUT, SPIT IT OUT, YOU BASTARD!" |

What evidence does anyone have on which to base these claims? The court documents have been sealed, so nobody knows anything. From no actual public evidence, we've heard that the plaintiff is "another gold digger" and "some dumb bitch".
Perhaps waiting a few weeks for the evidence to come out would prevent some needless name calling to a possible sexual assault victim. I like Kobe and was fortunate enough to watch him in high school at Lower Merion. He appears to be a good guy and I doubt that he is capable of this, however I have been surprised by the difference between someone's personal and private lives. Remember all-american Kirby Puckett? Let's be patient and wait for a few facts.

What is it with the NBA? Why can't these guys keep it in their pants?
I like Kobe. I like him for his image, not to mention his skills. He obviously did enough to get him brought up on charges. Even if the girl was originally a willing participant, it sounds like he still 'did' her. I guess these guys aren't any different from the NFL or MLB players. Do the NHL guys act like this? Probably so, just no one hears about it. I guess it all stems from having too much money and not enough maturity. Crap like this makes me dislike the NBA more everyday.

But I think what we meant by using those phrases above is that we've seen women, more often then not, outright lie about these things. Remember Chris Webber? And wasn't Puckett vindicated to a degree? Still, you are correct, we could be piling on a victim. With no facts available, most everyone is speculating. Speculation should be kept in check. Thats why, when I posted earlier, I used the words "speculate" and "predictions." I can't see Kobe doing this. Cheating, maybe. But going to these lengths, no. |

One thing I have noticed: No ambulance-chaser on behalf of the woman has popped up, yet. Usually there is some kind of Cochran-esque lowballer spewing rhetoric all around about the athlete in question. The media content thus far has been very, very scarce concerning the incident.
Of course, he probably just told the girl she had a nice ass. |

Why not try to back that up with some evidence. If you can't then don't bother saying it. I hope that it's all just a bunch of crap. Even if all he did was bang a chic that wanted it I'll lose all respect for the guy. Shit, he is married. I'm hoping it's just a lame bitch trying to make some cash off of a famous athlete. |

I cannot fathom that a guy of Kobe's media demeanor would feel the need to force himself on a woman when he has a wife AND a nice stock of NBA groupies left and right.
Of course, I don't know Mr. Bryant personally, so he may have the temper of Mike Tyson and the libido of Shawn Kemp. |

I have no problem with people's opinions--and I hope Kobe is vindicated at the end of this--I am just amazed at the knee-jerk reaction to put labels on this woman before fact 1 came out. I believe Puckett was found not guilty of the official charges, but his wife and long time girlfriend came out and said that they had been abused by him. Criminally--he's off the hook, but the public perception of him and the private demons he battled were completely different. I certainly hope Kobe is a different story. |

Knee jerk reactions on this woman? What about Kobe? Face it, 90% of all sexual misconduct cases against athletes are horseshit anyway. Most of them are out to get rich, tell they're story, get criticized, and end it there by admitting they lied. This woman took the next step. A judge thought it was fit enough to accuse him of sexual assault. While I don't have an opinion on what happend, that's a fact. Most people don't have enough common sense to base an opinion on the man. They just want to see him torn to shreds. You don't know what happend, you don't know how it happend. All I know, Kobe was accused of somthign I could never imagine him doing. All the commercials with kids, all the time spent with kids and trying to make a serious impact on the community and on the people who admire him the most. This is a let down to them. To the kids who want to be like Mike. (Or Kobe). Think about the kids that admire him. That's what it hurts the most. It doesn't directly effect any of you, like it does them. Quit taking the time to tear Kobe's incredible reputation in his community to shreads, before even taking the time to hear the story, and get the facts straight. You're saying this before he even gets charged... no shame.

I'm not defending her or Kobe. As I said, we don't know fact one about this case. Let's let the case play out. If he's guilty, he should be punished. If she's made up this story, she should be punished. I realize that many women fabricate tales of sexual assault. I realize that many athletes take liberties with females, abusing their fame and status. Just because other people have done it, doesn't mean the woman is lying or Kobe is guilty. Give it time. |

Now they've decided to put off the decision to file charges againts him for another week. Hmm, I wonder why. If the assault charges are bogus, maybe the Colorado police and the DA are thinking of an excuse for making the arrest so that they don't look like fools. Or, if the charges are valid, they're being extra-sensitive about it because of Kobe's status.
I still hope that he turns out to be innocent. If not, then it's just TOO BAD. Damn!
