I thought his ego should have been knocked down quite a bit when Machida completely dominated him and made him look silly. I do hope Jackson knocks him out...if he ever decides to stop pretending to be an actor.

Also, don't you think that they are feeding Houston Alexander to Kimbo? They know Houston absolutely wont take the fight to the ground and he has a questionable chin. Massive power in his hands yes but a very questionable chin.

bazkitcase5 12-02-2009 10:09 PM

wow, Rampage is dumb as a brick...

and way to go UFC, telegraph who will be in the finals of TUF before and during the quarter/semi finals are going on - whole lot less fun to watch when you already knew who was going to win

and whats with all the shit talking - I love the fights, but dang... some of those fools just need to go in there and get the job done and quit all the show boating - makes them look even worse when they lose

I guess that is why I'm a fan of Fedor...

Walt 12-03-2009 01:04 PM

Worst TUF season ever. How hard would it be to put these "fighters" on a cardio program for a month or two before they start filming?

m0rpheus 12-04-2009 11:00 AM

I just couldn't help but laugh at the fact that the guy Dana doesn't like because he's fat had the best cardio of the season.

I really hope the UFC never does another HW season again though.

I was thinking that too, it's like Dana's saying 'sorry for the Nelson fight, have a go at this guy with the glass jaw', should be an entertaining fight though, not really expecting it to last long.

Then again, Kimbo hasn't shown us too much, really. Houston has big knockout power. And who knows, since his embarassing groung game was exposed, hopefully he's taken some time to work on it a bit.

Should be an entertaining slugfest, regardless.

YaWhateva 12-05-2009 12:32 PM

The fact that they are having Houston Alexander go up from LHW to 215lbs seals the deal for me. I hope Kimbo loses to another LHW in spectacular fashion.

Jon "Bones" Jones SMASHED him.

I wanna see more of this kid and less Kimbo.

Edit: That Jones kid is a fuckin animal, even with the 12-6 elbow he landed Hamil was done like dinner, his eyes were pools of blood coming from his nose.

Bullshit call on the DQ though, it wasn't like the illegal elbow ended the night, bad call I guess.

I agree that he had the fight won. It was unfortunate timing. I don't know if it was a bad call though. It's a tough one. Jon Jones is definitely someone to watch though.

silent_jay 12-06-2009 02:25 PM

Agreed Reese, I think the ref made the right call, he was just going to take a point away until Hamil said he was done, then Jones got the DQ, wonder if Hamil is up for a rematch after the beating he took?

evilbeefchan 12-06-2009 04:36 PM

There probably will be a rematch as Hamil talked about injuring his shoulder during the fight (I assume after one of Jones' awesome trips). I just can't believe how talented Jones is at 22 years old. 22!!!

I love that Kimbo and Houston hype themselves as badasses, but after the fight are huddled over with hands on their knees. The guy who walks out to Weird Al's "I'm Fat" is a 17 fight veteran, wins the contract, and gets the knockout of the night bonus.

The problem is that up until the illegal elbow Hamill was intelligently defending himself, as beat up as he was. Would he have lasted much longer? Probably not but Jones fucked up and it was the illegal strike that ended the match.

Unfortunately there's only one result and that's DQ.

Yeah Jones did look like a fucking animal though, and if he's training with Greg Jackson he's only going to get better.

Oh and Roy walking out to Fat was fucking awesome.

Frosstbyte 12-06-2009 10:01 PM

Roy was a monster last night, indeed. I hope to see more exciting fights from him in the future.

I imagine we'll see Jones and Hamil back in the ring as soon as they're recovered. Jones is going to be exciting to watch. He needs a little training and continued finesse, but I think he'll be a great fighter.

bazkitcase5 12-07-2009 12:32 PM

bad cardio is bad enough, but what really amazes me is how some of these fighters still don't look like they even know what to do in certain situations, despite going through the entire TUF season and the several months of training they had between the end of the season and their December fight

and yes I know that becoming a well trained MMA fighter can take several years or longer depending on the person, but some of those fighters from the finale seriously looked like they've hardly been in any kind of training camp

MontanaXVI 12-07-2009 09:59 PM

Roy did look good in beating up Schaub, but I still like Schaub a little bit more.

Also someone above said let's see Roy fight a proper UFC HW and see what happens, I agree.

What do you think would happen with Roy against and I hate to say it, Lesnar?

m0rpheus 12-09-2009 01:52 AM

I've got a feeling the first opponent they are going to give Roy is Rothwell in a battle of the former IFC guys.

YaWhateva 12-13-2009 01:22 PM

I am so glad BJ dominated Diego, I can't stand Diego.

That was an amazing fight. I give Diego credit for being able to stay in there for five rounds, but Penn definitely made him look like an amateur.

Reese 12-13-2009 06:58 PM

Did anyone even think Diego had a chance vs BJ?

bazkitcase5 12-13-2009 11:29 PM

I believe at this level, there is always a "chance" seeing how one great punch can turn the fight around, but other than that, it was not very realistic

I'm also starting to think that Mir will beat Lesnar whenever their 2nd rematch comes to fruition - it is pretty clear that he is not happy with how he lost and then being humiliated

absorbentishe 12-14-2009 09:54 AM

As I watched Penn v. Sanchez, I couldn't believe they were in the same league. Penn totally dominated, like I thought he would. I thought it was going to be stopped in the first, and probably could have have. But that cut... man oh man.

I'd like to see Mir fight a top contender that isn't sick. Sorry but beating Cheik Kongo doesn't really impress me much.

Baraka_Guru 12-14-2009 02:10 PM

I sat down and watched this. It was my first time actually watching MMA. I think I like it!

Anyway, that BJ is a true warrior. At the end of the fight, it didn't even look like he was in one. Maybe he just came in from a light jog or something.

And I'd certainly like to see Skyscraper fight again. That guy's a monster.

I'm a bit surprised that after that, it wasn't revealed that Diego is actually reptilian underneath. :surprised:

bazkitcase5 12-14-2009 05:52 PM

I agree, beating Kongo doesn't impress me either, but his improved muscle mass was very much impressive

I read one article that says he'll likely face the winner of the Cain/Nog. fight - which I think will be a good match to prove his worth in determining a rematch

if Nog wins, he gets a rematch against a healthy Nog to see if he can do it again - if Cain wins, he gets one of the best up and comers who will have beaten a healthy Nog

Actually he wasn't able to last the whole 5 rounds. That cut...is the biggest cut I've ever seen in UFC...ouch!

m0rpheus 01-01-2010 03:41 PM

Who do you think is getting KOed this weekend? Evans or Silva?
I'm picking Silva for the win.

Predictions for UFC 109:

Randy Couture over Mark Coleman easily.
Nate Marquardt over Chael Sonnen
Paulo Thiago over Mike Swick
Damien Maia submits Dan Miller in the 1st round.
Matt Serra over Frank Trigg
Mac Danzig over Justin Bucholz
Melvin Guillard knocks out Ronnys Torres
Rob Emerson over Phillipe Nover
Brian Stann over Phil Davis
Tim Hague over Chris Tuchscherer
Rolles Gracie submits Mostapha Al-Turk (I just cant root against a Gracie)

YaWhateva 01-07-2010 03:25 PM

I agree with all of your predictions, I just hope Danzig loses, I really dont like him.

YaWhateva 02-08-2010 09:05 AM

I was surprised by Chael Sonnen and that Maia didn't submit Dan Miller. Good fights overall

Toaster126 02-08-2010 04:57 PM

That D'Arce choke of Thiago's was MANLY.

m0rpheus 02-22-2010 08:23 PM

I've been waiting for Cain to fight a top opponent before I passed judgement one way or the other.

After beating Nog like that, consider me impressed.

YaWhateva 02-22-2010 08:37 PM

I hope Nog retires. That was embarrassing. I love Nog but he needs to quit before he ruins his legendary career.

And that Sotiropoulos fight was awesome.
