Dating the love of my life for 1 and a half years. We are waiting till we get out of college before marriage.
|
Been with my girlfriend for about 4 and half years she wanted to get married and does bring up the subject once in awhile but I don't see it any time soon.
|
Coming up on 10 years soon, but I have to ask, aint married being committed in all senses? :D (You other long termers will really feel that idea!) :D
Don't get me wrong, I love the one I'm with, have two awsome kids and a nice life! There are absolutly no "buts" in that statement either! |

I find TFP allows me to bounce ideas, thoughts and feelings about things that I may not be prepared to share with my wife. I don't think she's ready for me to share with her on some subjects too, so TFP is a real outlet for me to talk frankly about what role sex plays in my life and how it reflects on my relationship with my wife. We've been married for almost 7, but known each other for nearly 9. We had challenges in the first few years of our marriage too, as we were learning how each other operated and what each of us could be flexible on. We're in the groove now, I'd say. We even had sex BEFORE work the other day. I think that's the first time that has EVER happened. Sex at 6:30am on a Monday morning. What a way to start the week! And we had sex that night. This isn't typical as we're both worn from work and 3 kids, but I certainly welcomed it. I know I've used advice here to keep my sexuality fresh and exciting for my relationship. |
In 13 days it will be 19 years. The poor poor girl....

For my wife and I we had very similar life experiences. We both had spent or late teens though early 20’s experimenting and both realized what we like and didn’t. By the time we got together we both had a very clear understanding of our own selves and our boundaries. I remember one of the early conversations we had when we started dating was the two of us laying out what we needed to be comfortable in a relationship and what was out side our boundaries. We both were looking for similar things so happily it worked out.
As for common interests I would say that is about 50/50 we have many interests in common but many things that our just our own. For us it is important that we have parts of our lives that are for ourselves. Not that they are secret in fact it is this things that we spent much of our time talking about. As for the sex side having both experimented we have continued to explore the avenues that we enjoy and that part of are life has only gotten better. Not to be trite but for us it is all about communication, from the start we have been completely open with each other and that more then anything is the underpinning of our relationship. |
Been with my woman for 23 years...how she puts up with my BS I'll never know, but am eternally grateful.

We have a continuous evolution of our sex life, no TFP needed. She spends more time looking at parenting websites and chatting with other mothers, and getting recipes for nice dinners, and looking at pictures of her new boyfriend. http://i.cnn.net/si/2004/baseball/ml...dsox.os_ap.jpg She's never been a baseball fan before, but might be now. |
Been with my guy a little over a year....things couldnt be better...we still have some form of sex almost everyday...I wouldnt change a thing about him and cant wait for our wedding!!!
|
I've been with my girlfriend for 3 years and sex is still fun and exciting, life's good but the experience is always better when you've got someone to share it with...
|
averet thats amazing..and brings up another thought..how many of you met over the internet?
once again i'm amazed at how many of you have been with your life partners so long..its really wonderful and somthing i hope biznatch and i can oneday say about ourselves also..how many of you met before age 18? age 21? 30? |
I met my guy thru an online personals site....answered his ad on tuesday nite...he got it and responded thursday morning....talked online that morning...had our first date that nite...and we havent been apart one single day (cept for when he's out of the country working) since
|
My 11 year wedding anniversary was last June and we have been together for a total of 16 years now... not too long until I've know my wife for more than half of my life...
|
shani and averette..was there any hesitation in haveing a relationship formed online..(not saying theres ANYTHING wrong with it-just curious) i know alot of people women especially are worried about the dangers of the internet...what aare your thoughts (imma start anothe rthread on this too)
|
nope....Dave wasnt my first one either...before him I'd had a 3 year relationship with a guy in New Zealand that I met online...I got to see him once a year for a month at a time...things came to an end when he decided in the end he didnt want to move to the states and I wasnt taking my child 10k miles away from all her family. In the end it worked for the best because she completely loves her step father to be....
I've gone out with many guys I've met online.....my 6th sense works very well and I just always "knew" which ones to never agree to meet in person. I also never agreed to meet someone in "private" with the others I went out with they were always public dates...they didnt have my home telephone number and were never invited to my house...I like to think I covered myself pretty well on that level |
I've been with my girlfriend for three years now... However we have no plans for marriage since I'm heading to grad school (probably in Canada) and she wants to stay in rural western Pennsylvania and get a job in a small town after we graduate from college.

KK, it's not necessarily that we share common interests, but we have a common outlook on life. We answer the fundamental questions of life in the same way. We believe in the same things. Our list of the 10 most important things in life, so to speak, are about the same. As for our interests, they aren't the same for the most part. She exercises regularly, and I'm a couch potato. I love computers and the internet (especially TFP  ), and she hardly knows how to email. I'm into porn, she's not. She likes to cook, I like to eat. We both share a passion for our children, travel, fine dining, good beer, tasty wine, and gardening. After 16 years of marriage, our sex life is better than ever. I think people in this forum are more sexual than the general populous. I am a more sexual person than my wife, and she's not a member of TFP. I love her more than ever. She has become more sexually oriented as the years have passed, mostly because of being "exposed" to me (no pun intended). I hope this answers your questions. |

My wife and I have been married almost 5 years. Sex is significantly less since bub came along, but I think that is because we are both tired... We have lots of differences (for example: she is a christian and I am not), but I think we are quite similar in a lot of ways. We are comfortable together. |
Long term relationships are difficult, but if you're interested in discovering if the relationship is worth it, a LTR will do it. We had a LTR before the days of the internet and cheap long distance telephone rates. She was in the Netherlands, and I was in Texas. We (*gasp*) wrote letters. The physical part of the relationship had to be put aside. We really, intimately, got to know one another. We wrote about everything. We knew each other's innermost thoughts, dreams, and desires. As I said previously, three years before we got married, we only saw each other three times. On the third time, we got married. That was 16 years ago.

aladin...thats AMAZING!..seriously...you should write a book..i don't know if i'm strong enough to handle a long distance relationship..isnt it hard not t9o get jealous when you know that there are some men/women that get to be near them all the time? biznatch lives next door to me and i have enough of a problem trying to keep from following him to school..or monitoring his front door...were there every any worries about cheating or mistrust? do you find that having to put aside the touching feeling fun was a good or bad thing to your relationship?
and thank you guys :) |
couple months for me. sex is full steam ahead and the passion is getting there. its nice to finally be on the same page as someone.

A long distance relationship is an oxymoron, like jumbo shrimp, honest thief, dry ice. Unless its something deliberately casual, like pen pals or phone buddies, etc... |
My wife and I have been close friends for 17 years (since junior high), a comitted relationship for 6 years and now married for 6 years. She has been a significant part of my life for over half of it. We have 2 great kids, and I tell you our sex life has had its ups and downs, but since I've been snipped its grown in both quantity and quality (practice makes perfect!).
|
I was married for 10 years, then she left me for another guy. Dated a girl for about 8 months, now I'm attemting to date again. Not very good at it, though. I'm pretty shy. Have a hard time making the first move.
|
I'm in the married category
|
awwww ... your stories are really sweet:) thank you all of you :)

God I feel so old sometimes. OK, we have been married for 26 years. The sex is usually great, but does get kind of old (no pun intended) sometimes. The relationship is so great that the sex hardly matters. It is like we are one person. OK I will quit now I am starting to get mushy.
|
I've been dating my girlfriend for a year and almost two months now (2 months on the 12th). It is actually my first relationship and despite lots of turbulances along the way, it's been a great experience for me. I love her, and she loves me. Sex life is going fine, I always suggest trying something new, and she's often willing to explore. Part of the fun is exploring, right? :icare:
