STD
okay here's the situation, my best friend has recently split up from his girlfriend after he caught he caught an STD from her, they weren't that serious so he's not too bothered about that but she gave him genital warts, and he's paranoid no girls gonna wanna sleep with him again.
He's put a lot of trust in me to tell me, but i really didn't know what to say as i aint a girl, and i cant ask my ex (the only girl i could trust) as she is his friend too and also knows his other friends. I cant imagin many people would want someone with warts on thier c*ck, but i cant bring myself to tell him that outright until i get some advice from women as ultimately they will be the ones to judge him not me. i figured here would be the best place to ask as i feel out of my depth answering this, without hurting his feelings! |

There are several very good anti-viral medications that can help reduce the number and severity of the warts. Tell you bud to go to the doctor. The problem is, he will need to be sure and tell all girls he is with because he still might be contagous. At least he can get the active lesions under control.
cheers

the warts can be treated.....but now you're buddy has the HPV virus...which in today's age is very very popular. I think something like 75% of sexually active females have it....and they are the big reason it is being spread so much....as they can't necessarily see any signs of it....but us males do as it is hard to ignore a bunch of bumps on our wang. Tell him to get the nitrogen treatement....takes 5 minutes and burns them off. HPV can stick around forever or just go away.....problem is you don't know. He may never have an outbreak again, or every month. As far as I knew it was only contagious when there is an outbreak...but I'm not 100% sure on that.
...typical response to HPV on the female side is abnormal pap smear results concerning the cervix. |

hossified, you are correct about HPV. you are also correct that HPV IS the cause of cervical cancer, however it needs to be addressed that only specific subtypes are related to the warts, and other to the cervical cancer. Serotypes 6 and 11 are connected to warts, and types 16, 18 and 31 are related to cervical cancer.
One is more contagious when they have active lesions, but they are still in theory contagious... also, there are other lesions that look like warts that can be something else, like treponema pallidum - syphilis... best thing to do is go to the doctor.
