Kinda satisfying resolution
So I'm a freshman in college and I have a little crush on my RA (a junior). Last night, I was talking to her and I actually grew the courage tell her about it. She said that if I wasn't her resident (they have strict rules about this), she would definately highly consider me. She also said something to the effect of waiting until next year when I'm not her resident. She also gave the ol winky smiley. Satisfied me well enough
Do you guys think they should have rules against RA-resident dating? If you don't have an opinion, congratulate me on growing some balls! haha. (PS - I'm not sure if this belongs in Sexuality) |

Yeah, they have to keep a distance with the personal life, mostly because of complications with conflict resolution. If you have a beef with your roommate or some other issue, your RA is obligated to approach the matter objectively.
Since it's just a crush, I wouldn't recommend moving somewhere else where she doesn't have any professional responsibilities about where you live. And hey, congrats!

good for your balls.... Be proud and then go see if such a rule really exsists.

Yeah, from experience I can tell you that in 99% of cases those rules just get in the way. But 1% of the time - it can really save someone's ass. But that is her job, to set boundaries. For you though, congratulations on have so much courage! And don't be disheartened, there is always next year...

I wouldn't doubt it's a legitimate rule. They have rules like that for teachers, why not RAs?
Anyway, congratulations and good luck (with your Sophomore year).
