Some info:
http://www.sleepsex.org http://www.sleep-masturbation.com I have this. I was curious to know if anyone else on TFP has it. I masturbate in my sleep from time to time and I can never predict when or where it will happen. When I was younger, I would go to sleepovers at my friends' houses and sometimes I would wake up to myself masturbating. It was really embarrassing and I have no idea if anyone noticed me doing it. Sometimes, my friend would wake me up and tell me I was making moaning noises. I would tell her I was having a scary dream and probably trying to scream in my sleep. I remembered my dreams were sexual though, and I was lying. It was believable because I have also been known to talk and laugh in my sleep. My evil ex also had/has it. I never experienced it with him, but he warned me that he will initiate sex while he's still sleeping, but very rarely.

wow that's really interesting, and nothing I'd be ashamed of
I remember having sexual dreams and waking up with a hard on, but I don't think I've ever masturbated or had sex in my sleep. sounds like i'm missing out!

When I first saw this post, I couldn't imagine why this was a big problem. Sure, it would be embarrassing to masturbate and moan while your friends are next to you, but I didn't see it as a real big deal.
I've had a few wet dreams, and this is what I related it to. After reading posts at the sites you linked to, it is clear that masturbating while asleep is not the only problem. I read a post from a woman who has actually had sex while sleeping and does not remember it. I can understand that this is very disturbing. motdakasha, has this caused you a lot of anxiety? Have you ever had sex and not remembered?

I can tell you this is very real......I just never knew there was a real name attached to it.
I always assumed I was just acting out a sexual dream that was going on at the time. Makes you get very worried about birth control, you almost have to be sure your sleep partner is on the pill or some other kind of passive birth control. |

I've masturbated in my sleep since I was fairly young. It's a rather embarassing thing to deal with. Not knowing when I'll do it makes it kind of scary to visit folks. Also, makes staying over with a new girlfriend somewhat nerve wracking for me. Don't want to scare off the chick if I've just gotten to that level of trust ya know?
I have woken up while having intercourse before with an ex-girlfriend. She thought it was hilarious when she realized I was asleep and just enjoyed the ride till I woke up. Startled the $&% out of me to say the least. Though, not an unhappy way to wake up. Didn't realize it was that spread amongst the population. motdakasha, do you usually have sex dreams when it happens? I either don't have them, or don't remember them except on rare ocassion. --edited for spelling.

So let me get this straight, you can have intercourse while your asleep? That's amazing. So what if you were sleeping next to someone of the same sex at a party or just staying at their house and one of these instances occured?
Ok ok ok I'll take my mind out of the gutter Sorry. :P |

I do lots of other weird things in my sleep though and that can be very embarrassing.

I've heard of people having sex in their sleep on some "strange but true" TV show.
The show claimed that people afflicted with this syndrome are completely different, performance-wise, asleep and awake. It quoted one wife saying her husband was a tiger asleep, and wasn't very satisfying awake. Interesting! People are pretty enlightened these days. I'd think any properly warned sleep partner (with whom sex wouldn't be a problem, of course!) could probably deal with this. |

I don't have it, but know a girl that had it. She was at my Lan Party facility a couple years back and crashed on the couch. After about an hour, her hand was way down her pants, and needless to say, the masses of horny, female deprived, computer geeks were in awe. I kinda felt bad for her because they were like fucking vultures.

I was goin through a stage I guess you could say.. but yeah.. other dreams I've had were sexual, only waking up to have to change pants. And my fiance when she was just my girlfriend said that I've chased her around the bed a couple of times.. lol.. dont' know if much came of it or not.. very strange.. Anyways.. hehe

We have some really good friends that go through this.
The wife reports that she sometimes wakes up in the middle of the night, having sex with her husband...and he's competely asleep. He has no recollection the next day. It's completely bizarre, but possible. |

Amazing, never knew something quite like this existed. I could understand an orgasm during sleep/waking.. but not masturbating. This is something good to not be ignorant about.
Thanks!

Stages one and two sleep can yield sexual dreams, and unlike REM the body is not paralyzed.
I can understand it from a psychological point of view (these classes are finally starting to become useful I can definately see the bad possibilities, however

ok ok, what if both you and your partner had sleepsex. You guys could be having hot hot sex during the night and not have a clue. I think it would be camera time if I woke up sticky and peeing funny and my SO was walking funny and we both had no idea what was going on.

So interesting. Never thought of it though. I mean I have woken up with wood but what guy hasn't. Wet dreams are are pretty normal for most guys so I wonder how you get to the point of masturbation.

I do this quite often to myself and to my wife. It’s almost always when I haven’t had sex or masturbated for a couple of days. The odd part is I usually wake up at some point during the process. Its not as though I sleep through the whole thing. I just thought I was a fiend; three times a day is not abnormal for me. This makes me feel a little bit better in an odd way. At least I know I’m far from being alone with this.

Guess I'll stop being embarassed for my sleep walking episodes. Fypon brings up a good point. If you masturbate that day before you go to sleep are you less likely to masturbate in your sleep? Might be a good thing in case you encounter a group sleeping senario.
