Fragrance and Sexuality
So, for centuries, smelly people have been dousing themselves in perfumes and colognes in an attempt to distract the world from their body odor. In these modern times of indoor plumbing, deodorant, and daily showeing, it's not so necessary to wear perfume or cologne. Many people chose to spritz themselves, particularly on special occasions. My question is does fragrance "do anything for you"? Is it annoying/irritating? Do you love a whiff of scent?
I'm big on smells. I wear a little perfume on special occasions, and from day to day use scented lotion or body spray. And I love a man with a little cologne on. Please, don't douse yourself in foo-foo (did anyone elses's mama use that term?) but a little Curve is nice. Some smells just say, "Sexy man!" I wouldn't say that smell "turns me on", but it's definetly pleasing. I think smell is closely related to memory. Like, I don't think I could date a guy who drinks bourbon because he'd smell like my daddy. And the scent of Estee Lauder's Pleasures will always make me a little weak in the knees. Any scent that makes you pause? All right, so I've rambled enough. Smells...discuss. :-)

smell is the strongest sense in terms of memory because it goes directly to the brain until anything else. I for one, love the scent that my baby put on the first time we were together. It still brings back memories and I still love it.

my ex loved the way i smelled even though I never used deodorant or cologne... I'm not a very smelly person though.
My sister got me some armani mania cologne and deodorant for my birthday. I think it smells great, as long as i don't use too much

There are scents that make me hungry and scents that make me "hungry". I just don't like to confuse the two.
Most perfumes give me a headache, and I just don't understand the purpose of fruit-scented vanity products. It's all about the pheromones!

I love Lebell's personal smell -- that is one of the things I crave most being apart.
I hate chemically perfumes, colognes, etc. I like natural scents such as ylang ylang (very erotic!)

A whiff of Opium does it for me, so naturally I keep my wife well supplied with the stuff. As Sabrina said earlier its closely related to memory - in my case thats what she had on the first time we took our clothes off. Mixed with the natural scent of sex its still a huge turn on.

The only pheromones that have been proven to have a single effect on mankind is a female only pheromone that allows women in social groups to have their periods all at the same time, or very close times. Girls who've lived in dorms or homes together and often socialize together often notice this, where they will all have their periods during a close time to eachother. -- As far as smell goes, smell is one of the oldest senses ever. And as previously stated, smell goes straight to the brain and it has some of the most powerful effects on memory recall. My ex-g/f often wore coolwater by Davidauff. When a gal who sits behind me wears Davidauff i am instantly reminded of laying in bed with my ex-g/f. Its for this reason as well, that giving a rose to someone whom you are truly in love with will allow them to remember all their moments of love every time you give them a rose to smell. Your limbic system of smell is a powerful thing, and in knowing a girls favorite scent can really provoke you to "win" her heart. |

I think scent is tied to memory as well. While the little things about the women I've dated may fade away, I can almost always remember how they smell. And it works both ways. Sometimes I'll find myself thinking about former girlfriends and such when a particular scent comes my way. Lavender and Ylang Ylang will do it everytime and a girl I was interested in, but never dated, used to wear this cheap ass perfume called "vanilla fields." (I think) so everytime I smell real vanilla I'm transported back to my awkward teenage years.....as opposed to my awkward twentysomethings....

helll yeah. i prefer pheremones too. if you 'stink' i'll probably think its sexy if i'm attracted to you. the smell of sweat can be yummy. or am i just weird? i don't get the pheremone enhanced sprays but natural smells/pheremones are goood. i'm allergic to strong scents and a strong whiff is horrid. lightly sprayed is alright but i'm just not into cologne/perfume as much. its all about deoderant

I like it when girls smell yummy. I know some people are dissing the fruity smelling stuff...but what I really like is girls that wash their hair with herbal essense. Some of the stuff smells realy good as in tasty. Some perfumes are good, but Im not set on one. Most perfumes irritate my contacts, so I rarely wear any cologne and most of the time a girl's lotion and shampoo or whatever else she put on is enough to irritate my eyes by the end of a movie, so perfume just makes things worse. So for me I prefer girls that use good smelling shampoos and conditioners and body soaps.

It's funny as a co-worker and I were talking today and he told me that I always smell "nummy". I told him it's part of the job, being a girl and all! I am hooked on Obsession.....I may end up destitute, without a home or clothes but I will always always have my one little quirk and that's it! (one has to keep her certain life's delicacies!)
As far as guys go....I don't like an overwhelming scent. For me the best thing is their "natural" smell left on my comforter or on a shirt of his. mmmmmmm! Just makes me go all soft and mushy!

certain scents definately conjur up memories for me.
a woman once walked by me, wearing a perfume that my ex used to wear. it instantly brought back memories of times we had together. it was one of those moments when i totally "zoned out" and started daydreaming. |

I've wondered this before, actually: take two people in love. Do they like each other's natural body odors better than others do?
In my relationships my girlfriends have always smelled unusually nice to me, and they've said as much about me. Interestingly, they seemed to like me even better sweaty. Any ideas? |

My girlfriend tells me she likes the smell of my body, i can't smell it, but she loves it and even more when we're all hot and sweaty after going at it for a few hours and our "sex scents" are all in the air. I can smell us by then, smells good in my opinion.
i guess you can say if you're meant to be with each other another indication of it would be chemically aside from a mentally and physically point of view. I love my babe, a kiss to her from here

I looooove Obsession for men. That first smell of it on someone almost makes me feel drunk for a second. It almost transports me somewhere else.
I alternate between a couple fragrances depending on my mood and what I'm doing... Obsession for Women, Chanel Allure, Chanel No. 5, and Coty Wild Musk. All fake-y versions though. Scents change quite a bit on me and the real versions tend to smell too sweet after a couple minutes.

my g/f likes the way I normally smell, and she goes wild when I've got a spritz of my Hugo Boss on, she'll just bury her face in my chest and refuse to come up for air for at least a minute or two.
I love her whether she's wearing anything or not (she hardly ever does (perfume-wise I mean, damnit)), and thats good because I think she smells good naturally. Too much is always too much though, and too much gives me a headache or ruins it for me. If I can smell a gal while shes walking past me from 10 feet away, thats bad. If I lean my head in and catch a whiff of something my SO is wearing - thats GOOD |
