Tweezing Pubic Hair
I was wondering, i've seen it mentioned in a few places this potentially eye-watering activity, have tried it a couple of times and it wasn't so bad.
I'm wondering this, though, will tweezing end up permanently removing the pubic hair, a la eyebrows, or are pubes somehow immune to that effect?

Isn't it the same with waxing?
If you get the whole hair folical/folicle/whatever then the hair cannot grow back?

My X used to tweeze all of it. It keeps getting thinner and thinner, and once its been done once, you only need do like 2 minutes of maintenance a day and it stays nice and bald.

*shrug* thats what i did... didnt feel like having the itchy of shaving... and didnt want to go to the store and get wax... but i had tweezers...
it wasnt painful... as long as i kept it to only one hair at a time... and since i got home i havnt had any maintanence time.. and its started growing back... the balls which i plucked multiple times the hair is very thin and easy to pull... and the areas which i had only done once still have relatively thick hairs but its a little thinner... and oh yah... i would kinda do it in sessions... just do a little area at a time...

There is no way to remove hair permanently with just tweezers. The hair *will* grow back.
For women, it's really painful when you get to the labia. I used to pluck the mons and shave the lips. It feels 100x smoother because unlike shaving, the hair is not cut and left with a rough edge which is what causes the red itchies. Instead, the hair grows back as a small tapered normal hair. It's very tedious, though.

It's really not as horrendous as it sounds...
So long as you tug swift and clean. With the grain, if that makes sense. This time last year I made a little "Pathway to heaven" for my lady, she was complaining that my pubes were like razorwire (she's just oversensitive, the most oversenstivie person i've ever met. Ever. The big Jessy that she is.). So, speaking from experience, it's not too bad at all. A lot less painfull than the itching that can follow shaving. Though, as I remember, the balls were quite awkward, as it's less easy to get the hair out in one clean motion... Hmm.. I had a little shave a while before posting this up, so maybe I'll go back to the tweezing afterwards. Oh, and on the dreary/boredom front, I don't think it was that much of a chore actually... With the time it took being quite well spent in my view. But then, I like that kind of thing, small repetitive task that can become all consuming... hay ho.

A therapist who does electrical therapy (can't remember the technical term) explained to me that tweezing (and waxing) results in coarser hair since the hair attempts to come back stronger than when it was taken out and the follicles were damaged. So these comments that it comes back thinner are surprising to me. She claimed that electric treatments or shaving were best in terms of health and longevity yet she may have just been trying to sell her services.

I guess I'm just a puss, but it hurts me when I have to tweeze my little unibrow area. I think that I think about it too much. But theres no way I could ever tweeze my pubes. No way.

My understanding is that the redness comes from irritation due to a mild infection. Swabbing with isopropyl alcohol afterwards prevents the redness. |

isopropyl alcohol? OUCH!
you know the slightly warm/burning feeling you get when you put after-shave product on your face (for the guys) or legs (for the girls)? multiply that times, oh, a hundred, and imagine it on your naughty bits. it does cut down on redness and irritation, but *be careful*...i'd suggest only on the pubic bone/mons. skin is less irritable there. (god, it hurts just to think about.) oh, and i'm going to try plucking. yep. |

The question I have (for guys) is, if you get rid of your pubic hair in whatever fashion, do you do your legs too? It seems like it would look really odd to leave the hair on the legs, and I wouldn't want to have to shave everything below the waist, it would take forever, haha.

@teelos, I don't do my legs. Sometimes I work around in a pattern to minimize the difference between my hairy legs and hairless others parts. I guess you could visualize a layering effect rather than complete baldness. Smooth to trimmed to regular hair. and in case you start wondering--that's not the basis for my nick! |

I just started plucking tonight. I have been shaving for about 3 weeks and decided that I didn't like the red bumps and the course hair. I'm going to be doing it in sessions here at first. It didn't hurt nearly as much as I had imagined. I'd suggest giving it a go if you like smoothness

No, its not really that painful. Well, then again i didnt reach my balls. But the hair does grow back. I was just bored one day, (about a week or so after I shaved it the first time) saw some tweezers, then just decided to go at it, and made like a heart shape out of it, it was kind of fun and time consuming, one activity to do for fun in college.

Only thing that goes near my hairs is one of those buzzer things. Ya know... for my skull... and any other parts that may get unruly.
... Hmm... I think the tweezing of pubic hair is the punishment for shoplifting in some third world countries. *thinks of those silly religious white people who pluck their beards until they get married, shivers* |

It's really not that bad. I get brazilian waxed, and then tweeze the little ones that grow out randomly before my next waxing. As long as I pull following the direction the hair grows, it's just like tiny pin pricks. It zones me out while I do that too.. heh.
As for hair growing back or not, I have been tweezing my underarms, and over the years, the hair has definitely thinned out in width and grow less, very sparse. |

Oddly enough, it was this thread that got me into plucking my pubes out one at a time with tweezers. In the past two years I've noticed significant changes and have registered here in order to share some tips and tricks.
When you tweeze a hair you will see a little pube in the tweezer. However, that doesn't mean you were successful. On a successful yank you will get the hair, and at the end of the hair you will have thick bulbous root. In my case, it's literally a ball of liquidy brown pigment at the base of the hair. If you get a big one of those, it's likely the hair ain't growing back. For best results, take a hot shower before tweezing! it opens the pores giving you a better chance of yanking the root and causing less discomfort. If you pull once and don't get the hair, give up until another day. Even if you pull the hair, it is unlikely that the root is coming with it. Shave a week before hand, it makes plucking a lot easier. because the pubes are a lot shorter. This way I can tweeze a large area in just a few minutes. Try to pull the hair out at the angle that the follicle rests. This is also another benefit of shaving a few days before hand, so you can actually see what direction the follicle goes. If you pull with the direction of the follicle you are more likely to get the root. Fortunately for me I've got dark hair and light skin and I can see the hair under the skin pretty well and know what direction to pull. Every time I ever pulled a hair off of my sac, it almost always had the root on it. I'm at the point now where, even after 2 months, I have very few hairs on my boys. The few hairs that are there are pure white and are either very very thin or are thick (but still pure white) and a bit course to be honest. Later I started on my bikini line and a good majority of the hairs came out with the root. However, there are a lot of thinner hairs(especially leading up to the happy trail) that, for me, are less likely to come out with the whole root - looks like I may need laser after all. Now to figure out how to pull out my ass hairs. Last edited by DrPube; 09-02-2008 at 11:07 PM.. |
