What about battle scars?
I was watching the hockey game when and a thought crossed my mind.
How do people here feel about battle scars such as those acquired during sporting events or even fistfights? Do you find them ugly? Or sexy? How about non-battle scars such as those acquired through surgery? |

I've got several scars myself, including a rather large one under my left arm along one of my ribs (heart surgery). While they exclude me from being an Abercrombie model, I've never had any complaints. Actually, I've had a few compliments.

Well, not sure how this pertains to "Sexuality" since you posted it here, but do I find scars attractive? not particularly but eh, if it's in a cool spot and has aesthetic value then, yeah that could be neat.
I have one under my nose that goes to my lip, and another about 3 inches aside from it. My face gets beat up by girls. Long story. |

My SO has a long scar up her back from when they put rods in due to scoliosis, I think it's fucking sexy. Never really thought about why. I think it has something to do with wanting to know everything about someone, and appreciating things someone has been through. There's something to that, just can't really come up with a better explanation.

I have a friend who's always telling me girls with scars are sexy. Of course, this might be because he knows I have a small scar on my left hand and he's trying to make me feel better about it. lol

I actually prefer a couple of scars on men. Either from surgery, sports, accident, it does not matter. Men with scars are like crunchy peanut butter, instead of just the creamy kind. Hard to explain why...it has something to do with him playing or working hard at something (or at recovering from something). If he doesn't have a scar, at least let him have rough hands and a truck or motorcycle.
On the other hand, I don't particularly like my own scars.

I sure hope chicks dig scars, because otherwise I'm screwed (or not, actually). I stopped counting at 21.
As for scars on women, I am mostly apathetic. Doesn't really affect me either way.

My guy has a number of scars; not all of them he wants to talk about. But to me, they're part of who he is, and I love who he is.
As for myself, I have a few scars. One of my favorites is from a lacrosse game in high school where another girl fell right in front of me and my leg landed on her upturned cleat, slicing through my spandex and across my thigh, leaving a nice gash. It's faded now, but still shows red after a shower. Another favorite was received when I dropped a four-burner Coleman stove on my leg. It was fucking heavy and the edge of it caught my skin. Owww. My third favorite is a hook-shaped scar on my right index finger I received while slicing bar lemons--it looks neat. But the scar I really earned is the one on my slightly disfigured and crooked right middle finger; I slammed it in the front door of my house when I was a kid and sliced it wide open. Then, not a week after it had healed, I got it stuck in a barstool and ripped off all the skin from the first knuckle down.

Accidental scars are not a problem - they're part of a person's life story.
That said, I have worked with two different guys wo had facial scars - both from fights (one waded in to stop a mate being beaten up and got glassed for his trouble, the other was slashed with a straight razor over a drug deal) and I saw several girls unable to get beyond the staring. Body Mod scarification I find actively ugly.

I'm definately not big on the intentional body modification, but the boy has many scars, mostly from hiking, biking and rolling around in the mud type scars.
He has a massive scar on his right arm and I'm drawn to it. I'll admit it, I find it dead sexy. I got lots of scars. Not sexy though. On my back I have lots from just acne scars which are kind of ugly and MANY scars on my legs from shaving, falling, tripping, ice skating and just being dropped as a child. Lots of scars on this gal. |

holy shit does that sound painful! I'm such a wuss. heh. I have no problems with scars on my man. Besides, I love him for his mind/personality, not how pretty he is, though he is a sexy man to boot whoot! And he doesn't mind my scars. I scar easily, unfortunately. Even a small scratch on my arm can look like a gash where I had to get stitches! It's very odd... The most prominent scars I have are the one between my bottom lip and chin when I cut it right through when I was 8, and a scar I got last summer when washing a glass...it broke in my hands and cut cleanly through my right index knuckle. they had to glue my skin back together wherever I got cut, heh. Those scars are still pink and look freshly made. |

Or maybe it's just cause I'm an adrenaline junkie and I enjoy my men the same way. I have quite a few scars from various things and I've never heard a bad comment about them, except when they were pretty fresh and people wondered what happened. Dunno if it adds anything to my body though.

I have these weird scars across my back. I don't know how I got them at all. They make me look like I've been through something rough.
I don't particularly like scars on women. I'd prefer tattoos.

I have a big one in the shape of a Y on my bottom lip, I got trampled in gym class when I was in grade 5 and got a huge chunk ripped out.
I also have tons on my hands, nothing major though. one thats an inch long on my left hand from when I was about 6, I was running and I sliced the meat off of my thumb pad off on a plastic lawn chair (don't ask how this is even possible, but it happened, and it was gnarly). A scar on a finger from doing dishes about a year ago and accidentally crushing a glass in my hands (again, don't ask how this even happened, I think the glass must of been on its way to failure for a while) Several scars on my forearms and shins due to mountain biking, and scars on my knees from trying skateboarding when I was little. And I have a piece of graphite stuck in my arm from grade 9, some dink was walking past my desk with his mechanical pencil lead sticking out an inch, and it stuck right into my arm, I tried to dig most of it out with a knife but I apparently missed some. I can still see it! |

Definitely sexy. If I'm in a situation where I'm looking at a man's naked body, I find all of him sexy, perceived and true flaws included.

+1 for finding scars on men sexy.
Scars from cutting, though? Not sexy at all. Big turn-off. I have a handful of scars, but mostly the small "I do physical labor" scars. Most of my big falls have resulted in major bruising and spraining rather than opening of the skin, so they haven't left much of a mark on me.

I couldn't be without my scars. While I've got plenty I'm not proud of, the one on my throat from my cancer surgery is great for making up stories. You should have seen the expression on the faces of about 10 people when I described to them my epic tale of how I was shanked in the throat while in prison and lived to tell about it.

I dunno, I definitely find a few scars on a girl pretty damn hot. Hell, even birthmarks look pretty cool.
I don't know if girls think my scars are sexy, but I always get em every summer from mountain biking, and I can look at em and think, "yea.... that was a goooood summer...". So whether or not they make me hotter, they still stoke me whenever I look at em. |

If someone dislikes scars, they're going to hate me. I'm not as clumsy as I used to be, but when I get hurt, I do it right. I'm glad the 3x10 inch one on my neck healed fully after the bike accident, but I'm fine with all of the others whether I remember how I got them or not.

I think scars are just another kind of character mark, just like my "Monroe" mole, I didn't choose for it to be there, but it is and it's just part of me. And yeah, they kind are sexy on guys!
However i know a gal who got in a bar fight and she's got a Dr. Evil scar going from her eye brow down to her chin. I don't think I could be proud to wake up every morning and see what my drunken idiocy got me.

My wife has a scar about 6 or 7 inches long and about 3/4 of an inch wide on her right upper arm... I find it incredibly sexy.
She got it shortly after we started dating. She was eventing (equestrian stuff) when her horse decided to go over a jump he wasn't supposed to go over. She tried to steer him past the wall and ducked to avoid a tree but clipped her arm on the jump (event walls are solid). It shattered her arm in three places and she just about lost it. They told her she would never raise her arm above her head again... she didn't take that and worked her ass off to prove them wrong. She did. I love that she is hard-core.

Not all scars are visible.
I honor even the self-induced ones...there must be a fiercesome battle going on within a person to do that,I don't believe most people that do that to themselves, think it is in any way cool...at least most who I have talked to about it don't. The stigma and shame of it being labelled automatically childish...and attention seeking..doesn't help recovery, or understanding. I rejoice when they no longer feel the need to do so. We all have scars upon thars. Last edited by ring; 04-19-2008 at 06:33 AM.. |
