Fordyce Spots?
Quote:
http://www.ultimate-cosmetics.com/be...condition.html I've been to an STI clinic, after having these as long as I can remember, and apparently they are "relatively" normal, as in not a disease and non-transmittable. They look kinda like this(warning penis pic): http://162.129.70.33/images/fordyce_...s_1_040611.jpg Now, I'm wondering, as apparently there's not much that can be done to remove them (except surgery, which is not recommended unless the condition seriously gets you down), whether they are regarded as "normal". I've only had one sexual relationship, mainly due to them making me worried about getting into one for the reactions they may induce, and obviously being the girl's first bf, she didn't know either, although was reassured by the doctor's comments. Anyway, have any guys got them also(according to some links 90% of guys have them, just not always on the penis), or have any of the ladies been in relationships with guys who had them, and are they as common as the net makes them sound? Thanks a lot. Last edited by PlanG; 10-11-2007 at 10:11 AM.. |

Ok, apparently there was a Spambuster which was blocking my posts, hence it now looks like BigBaldRon started this post, although it was me.
I saw http://wheee.co.uk/Clipboard09.png So I imagine if you all see the same as me it would cause the confusion.. [/QUOTE] Last edited by PlanG; 10-11-2007 at 01:32 PM.. |

Yes, I have them on my lips but never new what they were. No one has ever noticed except me. I figured they were sort of like a whitehead that never made it to the surface.
--------------------------------- http://www.answers.com/topic/fordyce-s-spots?cat=health Fordyce's spots, or Fordyce granules are small, painless, raised, pale or white spots or bumps 1 to 3 mm in diameter that may appear on the shaft of the penis or on the labia[1], as well as the inner surface and vermilion border of the lips of the face. They are common in men and women of all ages. They are named after an American dermatologist, John Addison Fordyce.[2] On the head of the penis, they are called Tyson glands,[3] not to be confused with pearly penile papules.[4] The spots are a form of ectopic sebaceous gland, and are not known to be associated with any disease or illness and are of cosmetic concern only. They are non-infectious and a totally natural occurrence on the body. Men sometimes consult with a dermatologist because they are worried they may have a sexually transmitted disease (especially genital warts) or some form of cancer, but this is not the case.[5] They may equally be worried about the appearance of their penis and what their sexual partner might think of it.[6] Vaporising laser treatments such as CO2 laser[7] or electro desiccation have been used with some success in diminishing the appearance of this condition if they are of cosmetic concern. However, most doctors consider this a normal physiological phenomenon and advise against treatment. wow this thread go jacked. but im glad it was here, i've noticed these spots for years but never bothered to look them up before today. thx. May be worth going anyway just for a checkup, as I did.
Sure relieves you. I just wondered whether people found them offensive to look at or fairly standard The sti part of my hospital, you can go with a different name, and receive your results by telling them your "code" which is a random number given when you walk in. The only thing they want to know is your sexual activity(Condoms/no condoms and how many times with different people, and your age.) I was quite worried, but it was really nothing to write home about once I'd been there and been checked over. |

I got them. Just now found out that they actually have a name. They never bothered anybody enough to receive questions, so I don't really care about them.
