Alrighty. I was talking with a girlfriend about various sexual practices, and we disagreed upon something that I can't find documentation on.

Oral after Anal (specifically, giving head immediately after receiving anal sex).

My position is that medically it's a bad idea. I'm thinking that one is courting a bacterial infection, yes? Her position is that because it's all the same digestive system, it should be fine. I just can't accept that, yet I have failed to find at least any reputable medical sites that say otherwise.

So what's the scoop (heh)?

well lets see. if vaginal after anal is a no no because of risk of infection... I would think it would be a logical deduction that oral after anal would be equally as bad.... Aside from the fact that its more than a little bit unappealing....

anyway, yes, i believe that it is unsafe. it may in fact not be as unsafe as anal-to-vaginal because my impression is genitals are more susceptible to infection, but that being said, i would suggest leaving the A2M hijinks to the professionals.

Anyway! With all this A2M talk, I'm thinking about how rimming plays into this. In the ideal rimming situation, the receiver has washed thoroughly and the giver's tongue doesn't go particularly far anyway, so it should be all safe. But if the receiver hasn't washed, then the giver is at the same risk for contracting hepatitis as with A2M. So, as always, good use of soap and water before anal play is key.

Now, the only safe way I can imagine doing A2M (which in itself is a huge turn-off to me, porn or not), is by the guy wearing a condom during anal, then removing it for oral (if he's STD-free), or putting on a new condom quickly. All of that takes too long/is too complicated for porn, so of course they're not going to show or do that. But in reality, I think that's the only safe way it could be done.

Seriously, almost everyone has e. coli living in their intestines. As long as it's confined there, the body can handle it. The problems start when it's introduced somewhere else, like the upper digestive system. If the e. coli somehow managed to migrate upwards in the gut, it would cause problems. Before the advent of the powerful antibiotics we have now, a deep puncture wound to the abdomen was usually fatal because all the flora and fauna escaped their usual areas and started attacking tissues that couldn't handle their presence.

Well, I guess I got out of that post that she doesn't think she's "infected" with e. coli (even if she knows it's not an STD)... which is just plain wrong, since we *all* have e. coli in our bodies. I just meant that she should read up on biology and the human digestive system. That whole e. coli outbreak in the 90s happened because shit got into the food... and no one is immune to reacting to that.
