I certainly hope no one changes your mind on the subject, and to further butress your arguments with your girlfriend I refer you to this site:

http://www.damnedbigdifference.org/

And for a point by point comparison of Kerry and Bush

http://www.damnedbigdifference.org/KerryBush.html

A vote for Nader is a vote for four more years of Bush.

BINGO!

As for Nader, I would really love to believe he is as socially conscious as he professes but really, everyone has an agenda, no matter how angelic the reflection seems of oneself, reality says otherwise. I think he can change the outcome of an election though which, makes him a power sharer, a broker of sorts. Gotta admit, he's got balls. Just to non-mainstream

Although I won't be voting for Nader, I also won't be voting for Bush, or Kerry. If i honestly believed one of those three were the best person for the job, then i would vote accordingly. I vote for the person i feel would be best for the country, not for the lesser of two evils. It is my belief that if more of America would do this, we would live in a far better country.

I do vote, and I agree that it is morally irresponsible to not vote. I just won't be voting for any of those three people. I encourage people to vote for who they truly want for their next president.

Oh, I guess I did misunderstand you.

Do you mind if I ask who you are voting for, and why?

Right now we live in an extremely undemocratic one party state with 2 factions of the same business party: the Democrats and the Republicans. In my view, elections are essentially bought and paid for by corporations with the public picking which corporate troll's personality they like best. If we're going to ever end this perpetuating loop we need true election reform like instant runoff voting, proportional representation, and publicly financed elections. The fact that these reforms aren't already laws should tell you something about what most R's and the D's think of democracy. I'm voting Nader* because he supports these types of reforms along with most every other common sense reform I can think of. Nader is also the only candidate who wants to end this blasted occupation in Iraq that has already wasted $155 billion+ tax dollars. Kerry and Bush are virtually identical when it comes to Iraq. If you get a chance, listen to Nader speak. He talks like no other politician you've ever heard and he doesn't skirt the issues.

* note: I live in CA meaning a non-swing state. If I lived in a swing state I would might consider voting for the lesser troll (in this election).

I'm sorry, hammer, I should have been more clear. I do live in a swing state and the questions I asked were meant for those who do as well and yet still plan to vote for Nader.

I don't, of course, mean to disregard your reasons for voting Nader, it's just that even if I did find more value in Nader's positions than Kerry's (I believe in many tenets of Nader's campaing, including IRV) I can't imagine voting for him knowing that that might help President Bush retain the white house.

The last poll I saw (CNN I think it was) had Nader at 6%.

I think I'll put a Nader sign in my yard.

Go Ralph!

I voted for Nader in 2000, and have no regrets.

The problem I have with Nader this time is he is now like Perot was. Great ideas the first time around, the second time he sounds like he just is running to be a spoiler (although with Perot he did all that in one election).

Nader has some really good ideas and he probably is the one candidate that cannot be bought. However, he'd never get anything done because Congress would never allow a third party President to upstage them.

I still prefer Edwards this year, but will vote for Kerry. I like Bush as a personality, but as a president he does not show me he can work with both parties and help build a better future for us and our children.
