A space flight or mission with the crew being compiled of individuals from all countries or at least as many as possible. I think its a good start with Russia. 30 years ago that would have been unthinkable.
Israel and Palestine side by side in peace. Democracy in China. I'm aware if some of the arguments on this maybe not all, but the abolishment of the electorial vote in the US. Severment of privatization of the federal reserve bank. Gradual conversion of alternate fuel to bring new commerce to the great plains and to America in general. Its time to stop paying farmers not to farm, and theres better things than oil (IMO)

On a similar note as The Dude, I 'd like to see a true United Nations. I'd like to see democracy all over the world. I'd like to see the end of religious fundamentalism. I'd like to see peace on earth. I'd like to see a world where everyone is free, everyone is equal, and everyone's rights are respected.

I don't know if by United Nations you mean the organization in NY or if you mean a bunch of united nations. The organization is out. If it were possible to actually unite nations it would solve all the world's problems - not actually, I almost forgot about Texas and Oklahoma. This would approach Utopia and that isn't likely to happen. The EU is probably dead before it ever starts because there are nations in Europe that have to be nombre une! I believe it would be easier to unite the Americas, or at least N America than it would to unite Europe. In spite of our current differences the U.S. and Canada are very much alike - Mexico is in the process of self-destructing. To unite anything south of Mexico would be difficult.
A lot of things would have to happen to have what all of you hint at being world peace. 1. Religion - I'm not sure there can ever be peace so long as there is religion. That's a terrible thing to say but - those who run around talking about peace the most represent the base cause of probably 75% of all the wars in the history of man. 2. Nationalism - Nationalism is good - nationalism is bad - Extreme nationalism causes war. If you need an example WW l should fit the bill. Extreme nationalism leads to arms races and the "my country, right or wrong" attitude that has been so very prevalent in the past couple of months. 3. Unequal distribution of wealth - the haves and the have nots would have to throw it all in a pot and divide it up equally. I have been told that if this were to happen the haves would have it all back in a short time and the have nots would be in worse shape than when they started. Equal distribution of wealth would lead to unacceptable forms of government - forms that have proven to be unworkable in the past. These are my thoughts - callous as they might appear .

To see humanity to not attack it self. Forget borders, forget racial religious cultural lines and zoom out and view the Blue Earth for some time and realize that a civilization against it self will not survive long.
But... Now, I return to Reality...

Liquor Dealer,
I don't mean the organization. That's why I put in the qualifier "true". I agree with your 3 points and hinted at all of them in my post. Of course, I do not think those 3 things will ever happen in my lifetime, but I would sure like to see it. |

The differences of opinions about the Iraqi war in the EU has been blown out of proportion in the US media to discredit the french and germans. My estimation is 80% of the population in EU(including UK) think that the UK was pussies not to stand up to Bushs respectless rethorics and 19% just don't give a shit.

I'd like to see:
THE REVIVAL OF A HEATHEN SCANDINAVIAN EMPIRE!!! hmm... nah, maybe not. 1. An end to the so called Communist regime of China 2. An peacefull sollution to the Isreal/Palestine conflict 3. Democracy and prosparity in the Middle East (prefearably put in place by the people themselves and not by the western world) 4. Democracy and prosparity in Africa 5. Democracy and prosparity for the rest of the poor countries who are neither in Africa nor in the middle east 6. An end to the extreme marketliberalism. More power to the elected governments, less to the multibilliondollar companies. 7. Never again experience a revival of the 80ies. 8. A good Norwegian movie, prefearably something epic. About norse mythology, vikings or knights or something. Well, one can always dream... |

I would like to see a lot of things that will never happen but here is a few:
1. Our relaince on fossil fuels to go away.... and never come back 2. a manned mission to mars (rock on) 3. an international 30-35 hour (mandated) work week... spend more time with your families 4. world *cough*US*cough* conservation. We are nearly at or passed carrying capacity... we need to realize this 5. People to turn off thier TV's and go outside (I think this would be benificial if 3 was mandated and would help 4) 6. a place were people can live and not fear getting sick because medical expenses are too much. 7. A place where I can walk anywhere at 3am and not worry. 8. An international education standard 9. A place where everyone is aware of other cultures (and everyone knows at least two languages) 10..... There are many many more but meh, if I can dream right?

2. A fair peace in the Middle East. 3. A European Union that is able to take its humanitarian responsibilities seriously. 4. US world dominace breaking down peacefully and being replaced by a workable World Government. 5. A proof of the Riemann Hypothesis, preferably by myself

Things I'd like to see.
1. A GREAT president. Someone up there with Lincoln. Too bad I don't remember Reagan. 2. A space worthy vehicle. No more shuttle. Too expensive. 3. A cure for AIDS & cancer. 4. Bin Laden's head on a stick. 5. A peaceful middle east (least likely of my choices). |
