get ready to bend over, Pittsburgh
Your penguins owners are looking for more of your money. I wonder how many pittsburgh citizens will be displaced or deprived of their property?

DK - I'm not really a hockey fan, but I've been paying attention to this for a while. The Penguins have been trying to sell for a couple of years now, and they've been to the alter twice only to get stood up twice. There's real talk of moving the franchise because it's just not successful in Pittsburgh anymore. Attendance is down and salaries are up. Remember that the Penguins aren't the Steelers or even the Pirates, so they aren't doing as well as the other two franchises in town (that also have money and attendance problems, btw).
Also, did you read the last line of the article that you posted that said that the land has already been acquired? There's no mention of disgruntled homeowners in the article, so your comment is pure speculation I think. I expect that this thread will be closed shortly for lack of any discussion in the OP.

I confess, I didn't read the whole article. Having seen what the new cowboys stadium deal did to many homeowners in Arlington, TX last year, I jumped to the conclusion that land grabs would soon be happening. By the last line of the article, I can only assume two things....that they found empty public lands to use or they've already used eminent domain proceedings to acquire said land and nobody made a fuss out of it. It also wouldn't surprise me much to see the same thing happen to the people of pittsburgh, that happened to the people of arlington after the texas rangers ball field deal that GW brokered....a 7 million dollar unpaid debt.

There's a big difference between the Rangers and the Penguins - attendance. People still go to Rangers games. They don't go to Penguins games. The attendence for the NHL is way down across the board, and it's even farther off in smaller markets, especially when the team isn't doing well - like the Penguins.
And I'll absolutely agree that Texans got fucked by both the Cowboys and the Rangers. Both of them are two of the most successful (monetarily) franchises in their respective sports, and there was no need for the deals they got. It looks like the Penguins might get a sweetheart deal from Kansas City. http://sports.yahoo.com/nhl/news?slu...v=ap&type=lgns This does a better job of explaining their situation than I did.
