OK, so now for the million dollar question. How did you get the camera to go off? What kind of camera was it?

The shutter, tilt and pan are all controlled by an airplane remote control. The camera rig has servos that are moved by the radio control. To trigger the shutter i just move the arm on the radio and it moves an arm to press down the shutter.

Wrightsville! Nice... I was just there last weekend myself. Gorgeous weather right now and lots of great places to eat...

Nice shots!

Edited to ask: What side is that on? I stay near the Oceanic, and wherever you are at looks less crowded...

The top picture is on the North end. About 5 blocks past the Holiday Inn. The bottom one is all the way down on the South end.

This one shows the Oceanic peir in the back ground

I was thinking the same thing. We all have our Charlie Brown moments, so if it comes crashing down, is it well cushioned? Hey, come to think of it, do you have any crash landing pics?

To answer some of your questions. There is so much luck when taking the picture. You have a general idea of what you are taking but not exactly.

Crash landing pics, not yet. And I hope never.

I have other locations. I will post them soon

The rig is homemade. I am not sure of anywhere that sells them

Great idea! If anyone has any interest in this, I would suggest going to ebay and looking for a cheap second hand airplane remote that comes with servos. Those airplane remotes are used for everything now hehe.

If you tinker with it for a while you'll see the servos are programmable (if you got a good remote), and you can set how much they go down and what stick or button controls them. Then all you need to do is mount any camera to a rig like he made, and put the servos in a way that the servo arms (if you dont know what those are you would see when you got some) hit the buttons when you press the coresponding button on the remote.

It really shouldnt be that hard. I just cant imagine getting that heavy thing in the sky.
