Wedding
So, as some of you may remember, I did a wedding a couple weeks back. I've finally finished editing them. I was a bit lazy about it. Here are a few samples:
And, my favorite: I took more bad pictures than good pictures. ): But, for the whole set (some images include children so I obviously couldn't post them, click - Shuby's Wedding - a set on Flickr |

Those are excellent, RJ! I love the juxtaposition of the formal wedding dress and the industrial backdrop, a very innovative idea!

These are wonderful, and not at all your run-of-the-mill photos of a wedding. I love the originality of your shots. Great work!

Gorgeous pix... are you a pro photographer? I have always thought that if I couldn't make it in my current field, I would love to be a wedding photographer. Is it a huge investment for all the equipment, or do you just use one particular camera and lens and then post-process everything?

Thanks you guys. I'm no where near professional and I don't know if I would want to do a wedding again, lots of magnets. (;
Abaya... I just used a digital, not a dslr. More exactly : . For most of the pictures, I did little processing (Mainly on the outside ones). There are some shots that look... off color. Those were orange and that's the best I could fix them. By the way, if anyone knows of any better ways to fix them, I'd be more than elated to learn. |

Huh, interesting camera... so it's basically a really nice point and shoot? Was it an expensive camera? I am really impressed with the quality of the images. Does it shoot in RAW format or just JPG?
I have a DSLR but I still end up with washed-out looking images, even with my best lenses... I have a feeling something is wrong with the white-balance, so I'm trying to figure out how to fix it. I really don't know my way around the camera enough yet. Would be so fun to shoot a wedding, though... why do you say that you wouldn't do it again?

I like what you've done here, RJ. The beautiful suits and dresses contrasted by the industrial setting remind me a lot of the Trash The Dress stuff that's going around.
Cool stuff.

with my wedding rapidly approaching (25 days and counting) I've found myself looking at a lot of wedding photography lately. We're seeing our photographer in a week or so to go over the details around location and timing etc.
You've got a couple of really nice shots in there - ones I wouldn't mind seeing in my own wedding album. I especially like the ones with the bride and maids all lined up and the last one. Really digging the last one. Nice work.

RJ, I really like the second one a lot. If I had anything to add or suggest, it would be about the faces being dark in many but that can be fixed with the dodge tool in photoshop or lasso the face at a feathered level and adjust with levels or curves. Good work and I agree...one wedding shoot was enough-never again. |

Great shots. The second one is my favorite. The girl making the O face is a great candid, and I love the heads all looking off camera. It catches your attention and pulls your eyes and imagination to the left, wanting so badly to see what they are looking at.
If you are getting orange in your shots, then you are more than likely needing to change your white balance. If it was on auto, you might want to look at P mode (programmed auto) - which usually lets you set the ISO and white balance and let the camera take care of aperture and shutter for you. Keep it up, the originality sells these shots!

I was shocked when you said you aren't a professional--you're very talented. I love the one of the groomsmen walking in a line.

I love them. As someone recently married, I think you did an amazing job and some of the photos are better than the professionals we paid to do our pics!!
We had the advantage of the Australian outdoors however, and many of our post wedding pics were taken in the lush, sub-tropical surrounds of the Gold Coast Hinterland. As per this pic....
