Here are some pictures from a trip to Florida a few years back.

These were all taken with a Fuji FinePix (I think an S5000, but I'm not 100% sure).

zooms really aren't needed for good close-ups. just a good lens.

Cool photos dude. For some reason the pics of the corn and the road brought back memories of my childhood..... I also like the squirrel pic a lot. Eagles always rock too.

Thanks much, everyone!

I finally went and checked my camera—it is a Fuji FinePix S5100. No separate lens, just the one on the camera, and no tripod. It isn't an SLR but it does offer some flexibility with the settings. I'll try to pay closer attention to what settings I'm using next time.

I have much to learn but the encouragement always helps.

Bored out of my skull at work.

I came across this guy at the train station this morning. In real life he is very green...

I made him grey to match the weather (and my mood):

More fiddling with saturation:

Just watching the seconds tick by.

Cool! I've been really happy with it overall. I took a digital photography class last year, which helped a lot with using the different settings. I felt a little out of place because pretty much everyone else in the class had a DSLR, and I was envious of them. But the Fuji has served my purposes quite well.

I figure I won't let myself get a DSLR until I start taking quality pictures regularly enough that I'd earn it and would truly benefit from the upgrade.
