Trespassing
The friend I ride with is brave...or maybe brazen...today's ride found us in a small village where we found a very old house, half torn apart, as if renovations were to start. Thinking I'd be shooting from windows, I get called to the back, where my friend and possible partner in crime shows me a way in-door was unlocked. These are what was inside:
Out back was a barn. A sign announced 'barn wood for sale'. I'd have preferred taking this:

Why do they seem eerie I wonder. They are really mundane objects and places, but the colour and positioning lend a strange atmosphere....would love to see more ngdawg.

I have loads more...
The first one looks eerie because, before my friend showed me the door was open, I shot it thru the window. I place my lens right up against the glass and use the lowest aperature setting I can-I think this was at 3.5; the glass, being rather dirty, gives that appearance, rather than the dirt showing up on its own. Another example is below, shot thru the window pane of a mill:

I found the first and third had the most interesting subjects. I think the composition was a little overclipped by just a smidge. In the first one, the bottom of the dresser gets cut off and I feel my eyes run down off the image. In the third, I would have preferred at least on of the baby carriages to be completely within the frame because my eyes wander off the right edge first, then to the left edge without really drawing my eye to the middle or main subject. Good exposure on those two.
The other ones weren't as interesting to me, subject-wise, and many are also quite flat and lacking in saturation.

I really like these, ng. I like the dusty and neglected colors.
Very nice.

The cabinet on the left isn't cut off, the frame ends at its end(there's no legs on it). I agree about the carriages, but being that we were not where we were invited to be, most of my shots from inside were one-shot deals-I have this thing about being arrested Below is another example of 'shooting blind'-placing the camera against a window and clicking and hoping: The only thing I did when I got home was use Curves to lighten just a bit. In the background was a built-in cupboard that couldn't be seen in the original, but had I overdone the brightness, the entire photo would have looked horrid, so this is a compromise. I have to guess on the aperature, usually going as low as I can(and the camera further guesses on the shutter speed as a result) and I can't use a flash as it'd only reflect back. And, even tho it's a DSLR, what shows up on the LCD is not necessarily indicative of what I end up with. Had I seen those first shots only on the LCD and made a decision, they'd have been deleted as being way too dark.
