Spent some time outside in the hot afternoon playing with Clementine. She'll be 9 years old next month and she is still full of energy. :)

You say that because you're scared of her (and rightfully so ;)

What a babe....he is so adorable. He sleeps that way because he trusts you.....you can't ask for a cuter kittie. And those paws.....

This is Gus's 15 seconds of fame, because his "last" vet appointment is tomorrow. He has been the worst dog, temperment wise that we have ever owned. At over 13 years old, he just can't manage any longer. I think we gave him a good life.

Gus, looking reasonably sane:

This is Rottie, the best dog we have ever owned. He showed up on our property one day and refused to leave. I hope he has many years left, because he is such of cuddle puppy.

maleficent 08-10-2006 03:29 PM

awww... poor gus... he was given a good life...

funny I never thought of rottweilers as cute before... rottie's a handsome fella and very cute.. :D

Elphaba 08-10-2006 07:36 PM

Thanks, Ms. M. I have bored you with my doggie tales (tails?) for (four?) years. I know how hard it is for you to say a kind word about a Rottie, and for good reason. He truly is "Carl, the good dog." :)

i wish Gus and you the best..........it's hard putting a good old friend down.

Hi!!! So good to be able to comment here again.
Due to my own stupidity, I was locked out for a while, but thanks to a little help from my friend, Paddyjoe & the kindness of the TFP gods I'm baaaaaaack darlings!
As always all your furry & feathered babies are fun & fabulous.

Nice shot bernadette!

most recent shot of my doggie Zeke. It's a bit of a glam shot I guess, but I like it.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v343/Shpoop/beg2.jpg

Elphaba, I guess Zeke has a pretty similar story to rottie. My cat just died, and 4 weeks later this guy showed up and wouldn't go away (he was only a month old and starving at the time). Friendliest, most well tempermented dog I've ever met.

JustJess 08-29-2006 07:55 AM

This is Punkin:http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b1...unkinsBday.jpg

And this is Sabrina:
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b1...dayCropped.jpg

They're my cuddle-buddies, and I love them very much. They both come when called, and snuggle you at night, and wait for you by the door when you come home... Sabrina isn't so fond of strangers, but LOVES us, and Punkin is a slut who will cuddle with anyone who picks him up. :D

Oh, yeah, and yep, those are birthday hats. Because what isn't funny about a cat in a hat?? Kitties need birthday love too! Don't they? No? Hello?

EDIT: Oh. My. God. The cat on a treadmill made me giggle incessantly, and I cannot handle all the cuteness of the puppies! Gods I love pets. They are so damned CUTE!

Jack's first time at the beach. He loosened up later on... :D

bernadette 09-06-2006 10:17 PM

shpoop, That's a wonderful photo of Zeke. I LOVE the eyes.

Just_Jess, Lady_Sage, shoegirl & everyone else with lovely kitties, you make me miss having a cat or two around (my last was euthanized a yr ago), but I always enjoy seeing your pretty felines & how much you love them.

Ch'i, There's no place on earth my two love more that the beach -- it's like dog Disneyland! Jack probably had a great time, huh?

I have a ton of photos of my dogs, but still not enough quite yet. ;)
I'm slowly learning a new camera, so they are handy models.

These are a few of my more recent favorites.

Great pictures bernadette! You've inspired me... :D I especially like the first two, and your earlier post.

splck 09-07-2006 07:58 PM

bernadette, your pictures are fantastic. Thanks for posting.

Here's Molly at 3 months. She's a little shit still, but the training is going good.

bernadette 09-07-2006 09:41 PM

Thanks, Ch'i & splck. I appreciate the kind words.
I've learned from some other dog photographers (on flickr) to get down on the ground to get some of the best dog shots, especially the action ones. I will be getting down more real soon.

splck, Molly is a total doll!!
3 months old, eh... if she wasn't a "little shit", then there'd be something wrong with her. ;)

Ch'i 09-07-2006 10:40 PM

Hey bernadette. I'm curious as to what kind of camera you use? I've always had trouble shooting my dog while he's moving; they end up blury more often than not.

a little shit?

for fuck sakes bern....when she stays here for a few days,it's a hell of alot more than a little shit........

......and he still hasn't paid my kids for cleaning up the shit either.

....(damn cheap dutchmen)

:D

bernadette 09-09-2006 10:20 AM

LOL @ flyman You love it, you silly goose, I know it. :D

Ch'i, a few months ago I bought a Canon EOS 20D. I set it on 'Action' mode for the moving dog shots -- 5 frames per second! weeeeeeeeeeee!!!! :) My old camera was IMPOSSIBLE (or darn near) to get any good action shots of the dogs cuz it had a 3.5 second delay, which was painfully frustrating to say the least.

And... I still get some motion blur now & again.

I don't mind it too much in this one though.

How did you get Shadow and Mailee to sit so perfectly still? and lined up one behind the other? Great picture. Pretty babies.

Fly 09-20-2006 05:02 PM

treats in the pocket man............treats in the pocket.

sit.

stay.

treat.

it's that easy...........'cept for the pup....still much to learn.

Maybe Mailee's treats should be a little smaller eh?

JustJess 09-21-2006 08:26 AM

That's an awesome shot, fly! And I like the blurring on Bernadette's pups. :)

This is a regularly-scheduled cleaning session for Sabrina and Punkin.

Ch'i 09-29-2006 09:58 PM

Fly, there's something very artistic about that shot. I can't quite place it...

I know it has something to do with the positioning, and the way Mailee is looking off to the side.

....I dunno

Edit: Aha! I've got it. The postitioning and expression of the dogs add an emotional value to the shot. Good job.

bernadette 09-30-2006 04:23 PM

Elphaba 10-07-2006 04:30 PM

Bern, this last pic cracked me up in that I saw some political satire in two dogs pissing on a "bush." :D

The detail you brought out with using B&W is astounding. I have to ask, are you a professional photographer? You certainly could be.

bernadette 10-08-2006 04:51 PM

Elphaba, I totally LOVE your political satire. Good one!

And thanks! Nope. Not pro by a long shot.
Just beginning to learn about photography beyond the point & shoot; however, it is rapidly becoming a serious hobby. :)
