Im not sure that you need religion to be spiritual. Everyone is different, so it will be rare if one's religion meshes exactly with their personal beliefs. It's best to borrow from all religions and experiences to make sense for yourself. Beware of religions that ask for $$$.

My view on religion is that they are superfluous. There is no doubt that their intent and teachings have validity. Its great that people find solace and guidance in them. The major ones are big business raking in the bucks for their own elite. I adhere to the beliefs but don’t support the hierarchy. The religions I have been a part of and studied have (2) universal teachings beyond theology.

1) We are the only real deal.
All people are created equal and the other religions in the world are fine (wink, wink) but our religion is really the one true path to salvation.

2) You can’t get there without us.
Its great that there are folks trying to live honest, productive, frugal lives (nod, nod) but unless we punch your ticket, you will, burn in hell.

Well, I suppose I will add a new on to the mix. Church of the Brethren. We are one of the Historic Peace Churches and possess no creed. We basically use the New Testament and the Life of Jesus as an example for how we as Christians are supposed to act. So now that I have sounded like a Christian fundamentalist, I will expound a bit on this. I am of the firm belief that as religous people, and I include Atheists, and Agnostics in this discussion, because you are here answering this question, which in turn says that you feel your non-religion constitutes religous discussion. Anyway I think that we as religous people need to discuss things just like this. We will not always agree, but the best way to bring this world closer together is for those of us who come from different backgrounds to sit down and talk with each other. It is much easier to find a commonality in discussion than to find difference in assumption's about other peoples beliefs.

i'm an atheist leaning towards eastern philosophies especially zen buddhism and taoism. i consider myself spiritual even though i don't believe in god. and even though i believe in reincarnation, i know ultimately, that i know nothing. and that "the truth" can be wrong. we won't know until we're dead. and when we're dead, it won't really matter..

i also think that sexuality can be really spiritual and i always say that "god is in my pants". heh. because the greatest thing in life, is the ability to MAKE life. it's a beautiful thing. and that allllll happens in my pants

but babies aside, even achieving orgasm can be a very spiritual thing if you let it. heh. i dont know. i'm weird. butyea. basically kama sutra as a religion. wo0t.
