How to be 'Careful' when Contacting Spirits?
What's up Paranoia Crew?
I love this forum and have had quiet a few uncomfortable moments in the dark as a result of some of the threads I've read here. On a number of occasions, and most recently on the Ouija Board thread by Weapon26, I have read some of our members write about taking "proper precautions" when using Ouija Boards or trying to contact spirits in general. I would like to know what kinds of precautions and safe measures you are referring to (you being very general, all answers and ideas welcome) and what kinds of repercussions can result in failure to exercise these safeguards. Thank you all and I look forward to reading your responses on this question. -Dostoevsky |

Protection can be anything from a short prayer to a direct confrontation with a spirit in which you demand that it stay away from you. Failure to protect yourself can result in anyhting from a bad case of the willies to a pesky spirit to demonic posession.
Having abandoned the prayer route, I tend to meditate before going into a haunted place and let it be known that I do not wish to be in direct contact with anything. If I'm trying to feel something, I have to be ready to close my mind and break off contact with the non-material world at a moment's notice. If there's no open door, nothing can get in. It's hard to explain, you really have to develop your own method of doing it. |

MSD,
Thanks for the reply. I find this unseen aspect of the world intriguing. I have never personally had any sort of contact with any spirits to my knowledge. Then again, I've never tried. You mention making it known that you do not want to be in direct contact with anything. Do spirits tend to respect your wishes, or do you find them trying to get into your mind against your wishes on occasion. Also, what's the closest call you've ever had with a spirit? Any others with thoughts, stories, or .02 are welcome to chime in. Thanks, Dostoevsky |

Dont say, "YO DEAD MOTHERFUCKER! QUIT FUCKIN AROUND AND COME TALK TO US, WE'RE FUCKIN BORED!!!"
I tried that once, and it wasn't very pretty. Respekt the deadz.

try driving up to the cemetary seeing your drunk idoit friends with a Ouija Board slapping it around the tomb stones .. and seeing dark shadows moving where there should be any.. grabbing 12 peps and stuffing them in a van while saying your sorry is a pain in the ass.. btw the next day we went back.. on a clear day it started to rain the moment we entered the cemetarty.. (friend left her purse there that night) the farther we got to were the purse was the harder it rained.. as we walked back the sudden storm lessened then stopped once we were out side.. our car was bone dry.. just dont be an asshat and be cool. what we learned that night and the next day.
oh heh on a brighter note.. the sorry fucker that talked them into it.. had scratches, deep 4 uniform gashes carved into his nice hot rod. now that was funny yet .. disturbing.. could have been other kids at the time but still that feeling was there.
