My recurring dream...
Alright, I've talked about this to some friends and a family member now and again, but I'd like to see what the TFP posse thinks of this recurring dream I've had scattered throughout my life.
I'm in a crowd of people. It's a rally or some sort of speech (ceremony). I have the distinct feeling I'm in England (I'm American, and have never been to the UK). There is a man at a podium speaking. He's in a military uniform with a blue beret (The UN has blue, but this doesn't look like theirs... though they can always change their uniform at some point). I look down at someone's newspaper and the date is J___ 2012. I believe it more likely to be June or July than January as the weather is far to mild (I think) for Jan. in the UK. There is an extremely eerie feeling in the air as if something tragic is about to happen (or just did happen). By tragic I mean far worse than 9/11, far worse than WWII... it's just something in the air, the look on people's faces, as if they are all dying inside from whatever the speaker is saying. I've been told that 2012 is an important year to many mystic/spritual people. Apparently the Aztec or Mayan calendar ends in 2012 (it was forecast up to that year and not beyond) and many people with apparent psychic ability seem to believe that the world will "end" in 2012... not completely, but to the extent that we know it. Over the years I've gradually become more spiritual in a metaphysical manner and as I have done so, the dream has come less often, but I wake up from it with a much greater sense of urgency. I have another, shorter dream that I always have felt was linked (the two dreams seem to happen within a week or so of each other... and the pair maybe once or twice a year, tops these days). In this dream I'm in an old barn in a field somewhere (I still think Britain) and I look up and am utterly captivated by an owl in the rafters. In my early days of this dream, I come to look at the reflection in the window pane and see myself, older and in my own military uniform (this was YEARS before I enlisted... over a decade in fact). In more recet occurances I see my son looking back, but NOT in a military uniform. So... any ideas? |

The linked dream phenomenon sounds like the subconscious projection of fear that the world is becoming less safe. The dates are influenced by the knowledge of the Mayan calendar, and the reflection is the subconscious projection of fear for your descedants' safewty, and that they will either be unable or unwilling to do anything about the bad things that may happen in the future.

This dream started when I was around six years old. I'm now 27... When I was six:
Your comments are logical, but in this case are moot to the situation. Wanna try again? ) |

Even though I believe in the paranormal, I am quite wary of anyone claiming to be a "mystic", and talk of metaphysics almost instantly turns me off. If the world as we know it comes to an end in eight years, then so be it. Personally, I think it might do some good.

I personally think recurrent dreams are always important, but not always literal. When I was 5 I had one that involved flying through my house with my mother while my father was sitting on the floor and crying. When I told my parents, it turned out my mother was having the same dream, which was scary, so we changed the locks on the doors and replaced the lintel on the back door. Anyway, a few nights later, we woke up to find the wood around the new lock all torn up, but still plenty strong.
So that one was linked to an event, but then there's also the one I have all the friggin time involving trying to get home in time for an appointment but people keep interrupting me and everyhing takes forever. That one's just a general anxiety dream. So anyway, your dream has so many specific details that it's hard to dismiss, but I think you should try to remember when they started showing up. Most very young children have very little concept of time in the far future, or really much of the adult world, so if you still had the specific date AND place AND military dress when you were only 6, I think this deserves some serious thought.

You know....back to Xephrys whole dream.
If I remember correctly, one of Nostradamus' predictions is that the world is going to end in the year 2012. I think this may very well be true. If we look at the Aztecs calander and time system, it's so accurate it is really eerie. In fact the Aztec clock and calandar was only 17 seconds off from the now modern Atomic Clock.... So if the Aztec's calander ends in the year 2012, what's to say that Nostradamus knew of this and agreed AND THEN made the prediction that if their calander ends in 2012 that must mean the world ends in the year 2012...? I honestly have no idea if Nostadamus knew of the Aztec calander ending in 2012. If he did than he may just be agreeing, copying...something of that sort and if he didn't it may be correct or just a mere coincidence. This is really bothering me (lol) so I will look more into Nostradamus and the Aztecs. |

aseddon130-
Interesting. I've experience a lot of deja vu in my life and frankly have no clue what to chaulk it up to. I have a lot of thoeries of my own that perhaps I'll port in another thread another time. My advice to you is... don't disbelieve things until they are proven. I find it's always better to be on the fence about everything until you have reason to believe or disbelieve it personally. ) Acetylene- Sometimes the mundane is much scarier. Glad the locks held up after that! |

yea
another thing today grabbed me - about the dreams being glimpses of the future - i was watching 'The Terminator' Speical Edition DVD extras and it said that James Cameron initally got the idea of the Terminator story from a dream, where he saw an image of the Terminator rising from the flames and that was what inspired him for the story - maybe this was also a glimpse into the future and was the glimpse of hisself watching the movie he made ... a long shot but maybe likely |
