Song to play for my 1st year anniversary to my GF
She asked me to play a song for her when we hit the 1 year marker. That day would be the 13th of december so i have a little time to practice but i have yet to find a suitable song. Im looking for something acoustic, a little romantic , a little edgy and not overly sappy. It does need to be relationship oriented though. Keep in mind, im not the greatest of guitarists but i figure i can learn to play this one song withing a month or so.
Anyways, any ideas ? I've searched for it on the forums and there's a really good thread about these kind of tunes but i still couldnt find anything to my liking. Please help ! |

Lifehouse - Hanging by a moment is a very romantic song with some good background music in it.

However, this valorous visitation of a by-gone vexation, stands vivified, and has vowed to vanquish these venal and virulent vermin vanguarding vice and vouchsafing the violently vicious and voracious violation of volition. The only verdict is vengeance; a vendetta, held as a votive, not in vain, for the value and veracity of such shall one day vindicate the vigilant and the virtuous. Verily, this vichyssoise of verbiage veers most verbose vis-à-vis an introduction, and so it is my very good honor to meet you and you may call me V." - V |

Goo Goo Dolls - Iris would be my choice. it might be a little sappy, but it's still very good. here are some of the lyrics:
And I'd give up forever to touch you 'Cause I know that you feel me somehow You're the closest to heaven that I'll ever be And I don't want to go home right now i've always liked the song, never fails to make me smile |

The Zombies - This Will Be Our Year
The song is actually piano driven, but I'm sure someone has transcribed it for guitar somewhere online (or maybe you can even figure it out on your own!). But, I personally love this song because unlike most love songs, it not only has its romantic elements but it also has a feeling of hope and optimism, which, when you think about it, is rather rare in love songs. And if that doesn't work, just cue up Boys II Men - I'll Make Love To You, and begin sexily removing your pants. Trust me, it works every time. Good luck

Everyone here is wrong
Learn and play "First Day of My Life" by Bright Eyes. It's simple to play, completely acoustic (just him and a guitar on the CD) and the lyrics make me smile everytime I hear it. I've been on a Jack Johnson kick lately. I just like his style.
That being said.... Better Together is a nice little ditty. Mostly acoustic guitar work and fairly easy to bump out. Banana Pancakes is another one. A little harder to learn and little more difficult to beat out if you try to sing along. In another thread sgn43 mentioned John Mayer. Your body is a wonderland is a beautiful song.
