Music that makes you cry.
Ok, I know its a tad wimpy, But Im curious so bear with me.
Theres a couple of songs that I find so powerfull that I have actually shed tears on occasion. Im not an over emotional person by any means but something in these songs hits me hard. The only ones I can think of right now are: Bjork - Hyperballad (Brodsky Quartet version) The muppets - Halfway down the stairs Got any? |

Most songs by Ralph Covert. He's a local songwriter in Chicago who now makes pretty great music for kids. But his acoustic stuff is so sad. www.ralphcovert.com

i'm way too touchy feely for a dude. i like these kind of threads. off the top of my head:
Dancing in the Moonlight - Smashing Pumpkins cover Thin Lizzy. it is so gorgeous and it hurts cuz i think of the age of 14-15 again Beck's last lp. jesus h. its good but my god, DO NOT ATTEMPT TO LISTEN TO THIS CD IF YOU HAVE ANY HARMFUL ANYTHINGS. 'baby, i'm a lost cause', 'its nothing i haven't seen before but it still kills me like it did before' and so on Mazzy Star makes me think of the same thing that DitM does there's a lot of music but my mind is blank. enjoy OHHHhhhhhh what teenager during the 70s (okay i wasn't alive yet but i still loved it) didn't get depressed by Nazereth's Love Hurts??? we all laugh about it, but the back oh my mind i think 'oh shit that song IS sad' Last edited by WhoaitsZ; 05-25-2003 at 05:18 PM.. |

Sarah McLachlan's "Possession" is just freakin haunting. I just love the part where she says "I'll take your breath away."
"My Immortal" by Evanescence is very moving and emotional. Amy Lee's voice is beautiful. "Hush Hush Hush" by Paula Cole is one that almost sounds as if she is crying the song, rather than singing it. Simply awesome. |

The Ataris - Between You and Me The Cranberries - I Still Do (a very haunting song to me) The Damnwells - For My Own Good, Sleepsinging The Get Up Kids - Long Goodnight, New Found Mass (2000) The Juliana Theory - Don't Push Love Away, Into the Dark, Is Patience Still Waiting?, This Is Your Life The New Amsterdams - Idaho, Lonely Hearts (this is probably my favorite sad song) I've also found a few good songs going through this thread, too, so thanks to all who replied. I couldnt say that it makes me cry, but "How Soon is Now" by the Smiths always makes me feel pretty miserable... sort of connects with certain nights of my own youth "There's a club if you'd like to go You could meet somebody who really loves you So you go and you stand on your own And you leave on your own And you go home And you cry and you want to die..." |
