new music
It seems like when I go to check out new music on Kazza lately that it plays for a while and them scrambles.
I know that what I should do is buy the album in the first place, but I'm actually one of those people that buys the album if I think it deserves it. I think everyone agree's having the album to take and listen to anywhere beats having a couple of the bands songs on your cpu. but anyways, what can I do to check out a song before actually buying the album? The radio in my city sucks and is full of nickelback and the likes... suggestions? |

You can download serveral versions of the song until you get one without the scrambling.
It's usually only on mainstream music so if you go for something a bit different it usually wont have the scrambling, not that that helps much :P. Sometimes artists have the mp3's on there site to download. You could also try some of the other mp3 programs like audiogalaxy or get em off IRC, but i aint used either in a long time so i aint really in the know bout em heh. If you really wanna jus preview, amazon has samples of the first few songs in a album to download i believe.

first get Peerguardian if you haven't.
Then move on to Soulseek and/or DC++ for all your sharing/previewing needs. Soulseek has less of the crappy music and more hard to find stuff. DC++ has general files depending upon the hub you use. Or check into a bit torrent program. |

Yes. Bittorrent, in all of it's different flavours, can get you plenty of spoof-free, high-quality audio. Entire albums can be found on websites like Suprnova.org, and you can easily search that website for whatever you need. Some personal favorites of mine for Bittorrent include a java version of Bittorrent called Azureus, and another if you don't have java is Nova Torrent. It's a bit more bloated than Azureus, but nowhere near as bad as BT++ or the original BT. I hardly ever use kazaa anymore, it's far too filled with spoofs, looped songs, and malware for it to be worthwhile. Kazaa, for me, is an absolute last resort.

Bittorrent isn't a client, it's a new way to transfer files. A new process. It uses bits and pieces of a given file from users who happen to be sharing that file. Therefore, no central servers and no sharing of folders and no browsing of other users' files. You need a bittorrent client to download. There are many different versions out there. Personally, I use Azureus. It's deceiving at first, because all the torrent files download so quickly. The way bittorrent works, is you download a torrent file that is essentially, a tracker file that once opened in Azureus, finds other people "seeding" that particular file. For Example, if you were to download a file that says "beastie_boys_to_the_five_buroughs_192kbit.torrent" you need to then open that little tracker file in a bittorrent client which will then connect to other users sharing the same file. The more people seeding the file, the quicker it downloads, therefore, after you have downloaded the file, it's important to leave your upload of the file open for a while so that other users can snatch it too. That's how the bittorrent network survives. Hope this helps. |

go on suprnova.org and check out the forums howto etc, all you ever need to know about bittorrents. Suprnova is a site that brings a load of bittorrents (read downloads) together, you download the torrent file of what you want to download then click on it, this then starts the BT client your using and downloads/shares the file.

There is the one bit torrent tracker that I've been using called www.ultratorrent.com
It is the most extensive collection of torrents I've seen. The music selection is out of this world.
