I've been playing for 11 years, but am really still an "amateur". I never get to play with other people, so knowing 1000's of songs isn't of much use

kl0pper: Kyuss is a seriously hot band. If you haveb't already, you should hear their cover of "Into The Void" by Black Sabbath, the riff just kicks my ass all day.

I used to play a little...I didn't really work at it, though, so all I really knew were a few chords and the first part of "Fur Elise."
My father-in-law said he'd give me his old acoustic, though, so I'm going to start practicing again

Been playing for about 4 years now. Not very good, but good enough to impress random people with songs by Metallica, Weezer, J.E.W, and the beginning riffs to "Stairway to Heaven" and "Tears in Heaven." I learned alot of songs in high school, but forgot to right them down so I never practiced them again. =(
Derwood: I'm pretty sure you can find alot of cheap acoustic guitars out there. Personally, I like having both electric and acoustic guitars. There's nothing better than plugging in and turning the amp to 11 and blasting away. |

Ive been playing for almost twenty years, had two cd's I played on one guitar one bass I also have 19 guitars 3 bass's 3 mandolins and a industrial steel lap slide guitar so I guess i'm hooked pretty bad. I play just about everything mostly jazz/rock style and I have a home recoding studio, I recorded a song for a demo and I had to play it live to prove it wasn't Satriani so stick with it new players it just takes time and practice till your fingers bleed

Where do some of you get your tabs? Do you get them online or purchase the music sheets/books from stores? I mostly go to Mxtabs.net. I like the rating feature, but sometimes people get their friends to bloat it. Still some good stuff, though.

I play guitar, if you have a generous description of "playing."
I've played for a couple years, and I suck, but I can play what I want to play (Ramones-inspired rock stuff) and I have little desire to play anything else, so I'm okay with my lack of skill. |

Ive been playing for about 5 years. Self taught, Im working on my first cd, but the lack of talent in the surrounding area has caused me to do the whole thing myself. Ive got 2 electrics (Gibson Voodoo Sg, Fender Strat), 2 Acoustics, a bass, a ghetto drumset and a PA system. My play style goes from distorted rock songs to flamingo classical songs.
Best song I know - Classical Gas maybe?! Nothing Else Matters, the dreaded Stairway to Heaven. |

I've been playing for a loong time and have a Strat, a Les Paul, a Frettless bass and a Takamine acoustic. Played in every kind of band from Megadeth covers to Elton John and John Prine.
Now I play in a traditional blues band(my first love) and am very happy about playing again and not being a musical "whore".

Been a player for over 35 years, a bassist for 31. Never good enough to pay the bills, but lots of fun.

Guitar player for a whole 3 days. (I decided to finally sit my
ass down over our short April break and start learning some stuff) I'd be a bassist for 2 years if I had practiced more than 5 times in those 2 years.... I'm so lazy. =(

I've played guitar for about 20 years now. I'm not all that good really. I'm kinda on again off again depending on how much free time I have.
One thing I'd like to do more often is jam with some people. Whenever I get together with other players we have trouble finding a common ground to get going on. When we do though it's a lotta fun. The best song I know would probably be "winter solstice" by the Tea Party. Spent a lot of time learning every bit of that one start to finish. Super fun song to play.
